We herein report on the forensic analysis of plasma samples to prove human poisoning with oxydemeton-S-methyl (ODM), S-(2-(ethylsulfinyl)ethyl)-O,O-dimethyl phosphorothioate. This organophosphorus pesticide is the active ingredient of Metasystox® , that was swallowed by a 77-year-old woman to commit suicide. In this work, the unavoidable bisulfate and sulfate ((bi)sulfate) poisoning of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) on a common PtCo nanocatalyst was studied by the rotating disk electrode (RDE) technique, for the first time to the best of our knowledge. The purpose of this study was a toxicological interpretation of exposure to chlorine with unusual course. Medical, clinical and court records, as well as reviews of the literature, served as the basis for this interpretation. Urea formaldehyde (UF) resin residues generate many poisonous chemicals during traditional disposal technologies for organic hazardous wastes. In this study, hydrothermal hydrolysis was developed to decompose, remove, and recycle cured UF resin. Under 140 °C and 2 h of hydrothermal process, 20 mL of either 2 M HCl or 30 w.t. % of formaldehyde solutions can decompose as much as 1.7 g of cured UF resin. Chromium poisoning can cause renal failure and death. Chromium intoxication may be managed using L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C) therapy. However, the evidence supporting the effectiveness of this treatment is insufficient, and the mechanism of action has not been clarified in renal cells. In this study, our results showed that the optimal regimen of L-ascorbic acid therapy in human epithelial renal proximal tubule cells, HK-2 cells, was 30 μg/mL. As in almost every country in the world, street foods are frequently used in Turkey. To determine the preferences for these foods, a questionnaire was given to 847 individuals constituted by randomly selected high school and university students. Of the participants, 43.4% were male and 56.6% were female; the majority of them were between 19 and 22 years of age. It was found that 40.1% of the young people ate street food 2-3 times per week, whereas 23.3% were found to eat it every day. The current study investigates the cytotoxicity mechanism of common drugs with piperazine ring such as cetirizine, olanzapine and buspirone on human lymphocytes. The viability of lymphocytes, reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation, mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) collapse, lysosomal integrity, content of glutathione and lipid peroxidation were determined. Buspirone and cetirizine showed more toxicity than olanzapine on human lymphocytes with an IC50 value of 200 μg/ml, after 6 h of incubation.
