Identification of the parathyroid glands during surgery is crucial for preventing postoperative hypoparathyroidism. Kikumori et al. reported that the aspartate aminotransferase (AST)/lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) ratio for the saline suspension of a suspicious tissue can differentiate parathyroid tissue from other tissues.
