The main causes of maternal mortality are comorbidities, hypertensive pregnancy syndrome, obstetric haemorrhage, and maternal sepsis. For this reason, uterotonics, magnesium sulphate, and antibiotics are essential tools in the management of obstetric patients during labour and in the peripartum period. These drugs are widely used by anaesthesiologists in all departments, and play a crucial role in treatment and patient safety. For the purpose of this narrative review, we performed a detailed search of medical databases and selected studies describing the use of these drugs in patients during pregnancy, delivery and the pospartum period...

BACKGROUND: Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) is the most common cause of blood loss. Obesity and overweight are risk factors for AUB. OBJECTIVE: To compare the association between body mass index (BMI) and tri-ponderal mass index (TMI) with the presence of acute AUB and chronic AUB. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Observational, cross-sectional and analytical study. Women between 18 and 45 years of age with an alteration in the regular uterine bleeding pattern were included...

BACKGROUND: Anomalous adhesions of the placenta, known as placenta accreta and its variants, are the cause of obstetric hemorrhages that put the pregnant woman at risk. Accretism is strongly associated with a history of uterine surgery (cesarean section, myomectomy, curettage), as well as ultrasonographic signs, such as the presence and size of placental lacunae, loss of the placenta/bladder interface, location on the anterior face of the placenta, and presence of Doppler flow; these markers can be assessed by prenatal ultrasound...

INTRODUCTION:  Abnormal uterine bleeding is more frequent in adolescence. Although, most commonly, it has a non-structural etiology, it may be due to any cause described. CLINICAL CASE:  A 12-year-old adolescent, with no relevant personal history, menarche 1 month before, was observed in the emergency department for severe menstrual bleeding with progressive worsening, and hemodynamic repercussion in need of transfusion support. Physiological ovulatory dysfunction associated with possible previously unknown coagulopathy was considered to be the most likely diagnosis and medical treatment was initiated...

The experiment of electro-conization with diathermic loop was effected on 185 patients. The indications are represented by: a) low grade lesions: 21 cases (11.3%) only when the squamo-columnar junction was into the endocervix; b) CIN 2: 44 cases (23.7%): c) CIN 3: 118 cases (63.7%); d) cyto-histologic discordance: 2 cases. After one year, the following results could be noted: 94.1% of the patients were cured, only 11 out of the 185 presented a recurrence (or persistence). It seemed interesting to us to study the factors which could influence the "in sano" (Free margin)/or not character of the resection...
