Ellis van Creveld syndrome (EVC) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder also called chondroectodermal dysplasia. This study reports on a 40-year-old woman from Iran with a syndromic appearance consisting of a coarse face, conical anterior teeth, dental agenesis and permanent teeth at birth, several small extralabial, nonmidline frenula with a high-arched palate, and a large maxillary labial frenulum. The patient had cyanosis on her lips since childhood and a history of adenoid tonsillectomy surgery. She also had androgenic alopecia, an elongated trunk with excessive lordosis and pectus excavatum, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and a history of two periods in a month...

Anastomosing hemangioma (AH) is an uncommon benign vascular tumor reported to occur in the kidney and, in rare instances, the ovary. While most cases of AH in the ovary are incidental findings, we report a case of ovarian AH presenting with abdominal ascites and elevated CA-125 suggestive of metastatic ovarian cancer. Postoperative histopathologic examination demonstrated a tumor consisting of numerous vascular spaces lined by benign-appearing endothelial cells with exuberant hilus cell hyperplasia. These characteristics led to the diagnosis of anastomosing hemangioma of the ovary...

Neoplastic cells originating from a primary cancer can uncommonly spread to the skin, where they suggest a poor prognosis for the patient. In women, melanoma, breast, ovarian, oral cavity, and lung are the most common primary sources; in men, melanoma, lung, colon, and squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck predominate. The classic presentation of cutaneous metastases is a firm, painless, flesh-colored to an erythematous dermal nodule (or nodules); however, several other presentations, including inflammatory, cicatricial, and bullous lesions, have been reported...

BACKGROUND: Granulosa cell tumor (GCT) is a type of ovarian sex cord-stromal tumor with low-grade malignancy, which can recur long after primary resection. All reports on GCTs in the liver describe cases of metastases, while there are no previous reports of primary GCTs originating from the liver. We report a case of GCT, with recurrence of liver metastasis long after ovariectomy, which was subsequently resected by a right trisectionectomy. CASE PRESENTATION: A 76-year-old woman presented with a history of surgical resection of an ovarian tumor performed 30 years previously; no details of the tumor were available...

The lymphangioma is a benign neoplasm, mostly connate, it occurs more often in children. It is more frequently located in the head-neck region, as well as in the armpit, and less frequently in the abdomen. The diagnosis, as well as their appearance is variant, they can be asymptomatic depending on the size. The signs on the physical exam are usually nonspecific and can look like an acute abdomen. Imaging tests used are the ultrasound and tomography, which determine the therapeutic behavior. The differential diagnosis should be made with other intra-abdominal injuries, such as cavernous hemangioma, mesotheliomas, pancreatic and ovarian tumors and even peritoneal hydatid cyst...

In recent years, there have been more and more reports about cystadenoma. Cystadenoma can occur in many parts of the body, and cystadenoma in different parts may show different clinical symptoms, however, some patients with cystadenoma have no symptoms. The vast majority of cystadenomas are benign lesions, but a small number of cystadenomas can be malignant. For example, a small number of ovarian cystadenomas and pancreatic cystadenomas may be malignant. This study reported a patient with small intestinal cystadenoma diagnosed by pathology...

Maffucci syndrome is characterized by the presence of multiple enchondromes and hemangiomas that can affect soft tissues and other organs. The risk of malignant transformation of lesions is 100% during the life of the individual, with chondrosarcoma being the most frequently associated malignant tumor. We present the case of a 44-year-old man diagnosed with Maffucci syndrome who developed a synchronous double primary: chondrosarcoma and high-grade multicenter fusocellular sarcoma of scapular and tricipital region, was treated with disarticulation interscapule-thoracic, presented accelerated progression and lung disease...

Hemangiomas are congenital vascular disorders that occur primarily in the face and neck, extremely rare in the mesentery. Here, we report a rare small mesenteric mixed hemangioma. A 34-year-old woman was admitted to the gynecology department for an extended menstrual cycle. A cystic multi-atrial mass at the right anterior of uterus was observed by ultrasound examination, which was about 12.5 × 9.5 × 14.9 cm in size. The gynecologist mostly considered the possibility of the ovarian cyst. However, there was a huge multi-atrial cyst in the small intestine mesentery without the right ovarian cyst in the surgical exploration...

This study presents the case of a man who developed a temporary and asymptomatic blue tongue. The dyschromia occurred following topical contact with gelato that contained Food, Drug, and Cosmetic (FD&C) blue dye no. 1. The etiology of a blue tongue is either congenital (in individuals with blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome) or acquired. Acquired blue dyschromia of the tongue results from either endogenous conditions or exogenous agents. The endogenous conditions include not only benign (angioleiomyoma, hemangioma, melanocytic macule, and varicosities) and malignant (ovarian carcinoma) tumors but also reactive lesions (intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia and mucocele) and systemic disorders (argyria, cyanosis, methemoglobinemia, primary adrenal insufficiency, and thrombocytosis)...

Masson's tumor or intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia (IPEH) is considered a non-neoplastic lesion. It is probably an unusual exaggerated reorganization of a thrombus. IPEH may be present as a secondary lesion in hemangiomas. Symptomatic osseous hemangiomas are rare tumors. Few cases of clival and petrous bone hemangiomas have been described. None of them shows secondary IPEH. So far, there are only four reported cases of cranial bone IPEHs in the literature, two in the skull, one in the clivus and one in the petrous apex...

Objective: Radioiodine is the most specific radionuclide for differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) imaging. Despite its high specificity and sensitivity, false-positive I-131 uptake could be seen on whole body scan (WBS) that may lead to misdiagnosis and unnecessary radioiodine treatment. In this study, we aimed to present the I-131 WBS and concomitant single photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) images of unexpected false-positive radioiodine uptake along with the patients’ clinical outcomes and the contribution of SPECT/CT imaging...

Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) is a versatile imaging modality that improves the diagnostic potential of conventional ultrasound. It allows for portable imaging at the bedside. In this paper, we illustrate how CEUS can be used in evaluating several focal lesions in the pediatric population, including liver hemangioma, telangiectasias, splenic hamartomas, and bladder lesions. We describe the ultrasound findings and contrast enhancement patterns associated with these lesions. Findings are correlated with MRI, CT, and/or pathology when available...

Liver hemangiomas are the most common benign primary tumors of the liver. Due to their high prevalence, incidental finding of hemangiomas during radiological workup of oncologic patients is not uncommon. We present the case of a patient diagnosed of an ovarian immature teratoma and hepatic lesions with typical radiological appearance of hemangiomas that decreased in size during adjuvant chemotherapy with BEP regimen (cisplatin, etoposide and bleomycin). Chemotherapy-induced shrinkage of hepatic hemangiomas can mimic the response of liver metastases to chemotherapy and may induce erroneous interpretations...
