To discuss what is currently known about myocarditis in the context of major connective tissue diseases, including Systemic lupus erythematosus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sjogren, Dermato-myositis and Polymyositis, Systemic Sclerosis, and Mixed connective tissue disease. Variability exists between studies regarding the incidence of myocarditis in connective tissue diseases, which is hypothesized to be the result of its subclinical course in most cases. Extensive gaps of knowledge exist in the field of pathophysiology...

Quantitative evaluation of image segmentation algorithms is crucial in the field of bioimage analysis. The most common assessment scores, however, are often misinterpreted and multiple definitions coexist with the same name. Here we present the ambiguities of evaluation metrics for segmentation algorithms and show how these misinterpretations can alter leaderboards of influential competitions. We also propose guidelines for how the currently existing problems could be tackled.

Sjogren's syndrome (SS) is an autoimmune disease that affects exocrine glands, mainly salivary and lacrimal glands. Several studies have investigated cytokine profiles in tears in order to understand the pathogenesis of SS and find additional diagnostic markers. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to analyze cytokines in tears of SS patients. A systematic literature search of the Cochrane, Medline via PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases was conducted using key terms related to "Sjögren's syndrome" and "tears" combined with "biomarker", "cytokines", "interleukin", and "chemokines", following PRISMA guidelines...

OBJECTIVES: This 2023 update of the WFSBP guidelines for the pharmacological treatment of eating disorders (EDs) reflects the latest diagnostic and psychopharmacological progress and the improved WFSBP recommendations for the assessment of the level of evidence (LoE) and the grade of recommendation (GoR). METHODS: The WFSBP Task Force EDs reviewed the relevant literature and provided a timely grading of the LoE and the GoR. RESULTS: In anorexia nervosa (AN), only a limited recommendation (LoE: A; GoR: 2) for olanzapine can be given, because the available evidence is restricted to weight gain, and its effect on psychopathology is less clear...

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is highly prevalent in individuals with anorexia nervosa (AN) and is a predictor of greater clinical severity. However, there is a limited amount of evidence supporting the use of psychotropic medications for its management. A systematic scoping review was conducted to assess the current literature on brain stimulation treatments for AN with comorbid MDD, with a specific focus on MDD treatment response and weight restoration. This review was conducted according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines, and the PubMed, PsycInfo, and MEDLINE databases were searched until July 2022 using specific key words related to AN and brain stimulation treatments...

BACKGROUND: Pulmonary lung involvement is the most common extra-glandular manifestation in patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS), leading to a worsening of the patient's prognosis. To date, different studies have assessed the prevalence of pulmonary involvement and interstitial lung disease (ILD) in pSS patients with different results. METHODS: We performed a systematic literature review and meta-analysis on ILD pooled prevalence in pSS according to the PRISMA and MOOSE guidelines...

BACKGROUND: Progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF) is possible among patients with connective tissue disease (CTD) related interstitial lung disease (ILD). Our aim herein was to compare the prevalence and clinical characteristics of patients with CTD-ILD, with and without PPF, according to the different diagnostic criteria currently used in practice. METHODS: This retrospective study included patients diagnosed with CTD-ILD, with a ≥1-year follow-up of their lung function, at a single tertiary hospital in South Korea...

Dry eye disease (DED) is a broad term that includes a diverse group of clinical disorders. Aqueous-deficient dry eye (ADDE), a subtype of DED, is characterized by decreased tear production by the lacrimal gland. It can be seen in up to one-third of individuals with DED and can be comorbid with a systemic autoimmune process or occur secondary to an environmental insult. Since ADDE can be a source of long-term suffering and severe visual impairment, early identification and adequate treatment are imperative. Multiple etiologies can underlie ADDE, and it is critical to identify the underlying cause to not only improve the ocular health but also to improve the overall quality of life and well-being of affected individuals...

METHODS: Our scoping review used PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science databases to review articles published between January 1999 and July 2022 in accordance with the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. In addition to the academic databases, we also conducted a manual search of Google Scholar. Standardised sex-adjusted prevalence ratios (SSPRs) have not been published for any autoimmune diseases (ADs) in patients with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), who are predominantly young females. We performed a systematic review according to PRISMA guidelines of POTS cohorts reporting the prevalence of at least one AD. Only four studies were found: two providing data on celiac disease; and two with data on 'any AD', Hashimoto's thyroiditis, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Sjögren's syndrome and celiac disease and (one study) antiphospholipid syndrome...

Sjogren's syndrome (SS) is an autoimmune disease characterized by lymphocytic infiltration of the exocrine glands and other organs, associated with sicca syndrome but also with systemic involvement with varying degrees of severity. Despite their importance, some systemic manifestations, mainly liver, gastrointestinal, and pancreatic are not routinely evaluated. To address these manifestations, the Sjögren's Syndrome Committee of the Brazilian Society of Rheumatology conducted a broad systematic review of the literature on studies investigating prevalence and diagnosis of these symptoms in Sjogren´s patients and made recommendations based on the findings...
