The modulatory effects of calcium ions on highly active Na+, K(+)-ATPase from calf brain and pig kidney tissues have been studied. The inhibitory action of Ca2+free on this enzyme depends on the level of ATP (but not AcP). The reduction of pH from 7.4 to 6.0 noticeably increases, but the elevation of pH to 8.0, in its turn, decreases the inhibition of ATP-hydrolyzing activity by calcium. With the increase of K+ concentration (in contrast to Na+) the sensibilization of Na+, K(+)-ATPase to Ca ions is observed...

REVIEW
M Bokor-Bratić, T Brkanić
INTRODUCTION: There are a number of chemically different tetracycline homologues. The older group of tetracyclines, which was introduced in the 1950-60s, includes tetracycline, oxytetracycline, chlortetracycline and demeclocycline. The newer group of tetracyclines includes doxycycline, methacycline and minocycline. PHARMACOKINETICS: Elevated concentration of tetracycline in gingival fluid with respect to blood levels was an unexpected phenomenon. Patients given 250 mg every 6 hours had average crevicular fluid concentrations between 4 to 8 g/ml and blood concentrations between 2 to 2...

COMPARATIVE STUDY

Clinical and biochemical, immunological and histological studies made in animals under inhalation exposure to volatile components of a new epoxy resin have yielded evidence in support of the development of autoimmune pathology (glomerulonephritis). One-stage determination of the amount of the blood serum circulating immune complexes and of the degree of sensibilization of bodily immunocompetent cells to a chemical (epichlorhydrin) and tissue (kidney) allergens in whole blood are regarded as a test for early diagnosis of glomerulonephritis...

The determination of antibodies against native DNA is of great importance in the solution of the diagnostic and therapeutic problems of dissiminated lupus erythematodes. The practical results are in a direct dependence on the laboratory methods for their determination. The diagnostic significance of two methods was studied with the present investigation: indirect immunofluorescent test and flocculation test with DNA-sensibilized bentonite particles. Under the conditions of the investigation, with the aid of the first method, antibodies against native DNA were found in 86...
