Trifocal toric lens

M Brožková, M Filipec, L Filipová, A Holubová, Z Hlinomazová
AIM: The aim of our study was to evaluate the outcome of cataract surgeries with implantation of intraocular trifocal toric lens, and to study the accuracy of astigmatism correction, lens rotational stability, and safety of the procedures. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Our study comprised 22 eyes of 16 patients who underwent unilateral or bilateral implantation of AT LISA tri toric 939MP, or its implantation in combination with AT LISA tri 839MP. Mean patient age was 58 ± 11 years (39 to 75 years)...

We present the case of a 56-year-old woman with moderate myopia and bilateral cataract who had cataract extraction and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Due to the patient's desire for spectacle independence, a trifocal IOL with toric correction for astigmatism was implanted. During the follow-up, it became obvious that the implanted IOL had rotated and tilted due to insufficient fixation in the large capsular bag of the myopic eye. An IOL explantation was therefore performed, and the original IOL was exchanged for a bifocal toric IOL with a larger overall diameter...

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to compare a new diffractive trifocal toric lens with an apodized diffractive bifocal toric lens in terms of refractive and visual acuity (VA) outcomes, including low-contrast VA (LCVA), as well as the patient's visual function 3 months after implantation. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This is a randomized prospective study involving bilateral implantation of a trifocal toric or a bifocal toric lens. At 3 months postoperatively, the subject's vision was tested both uncorrected and with his/her best distance correction at: distance (4 m), intermediate (63 cm), and near (40 cm)...

PURPOSE: To evaluate the visual, refractive, contrast sensitivity, and aberrometric outcomes as well as the patient quality of life and photic phenomena disturbances after cataract surgery with implantation of a new trifocal toric intraocular lens (IOL). SETTINGS: Premium Clinic, Regional Hospital in Havlickuv Brod, Czech Republic, and Vissum and Universidad Miguel Hernández, Alicante, Spain. DESIGN: Prospective consecutive series of cases...

PURPOSE: An evaluation of the visual and refractive results was undertaken one year after implantation of a trifocal diffractive toric intraocular lens (IOL) during cataract surgery. METHODS: In a prospective study patients with a calculated postoperative corneal astigmatism of ≥ 0.75 D received a diffractive trifocal toric IOL (AT LISA tri toric 939MP, Carl Zeiss Meditech, Jena, Germany) during cataract surgery. One year postoperatively the near, intermediate and distance visual acuity, corrected and uncorrected vision as well as refraction were evaluated...

PURPOSE: To evaluate the visual, refractive, and contrast sensitivity outcomes, as well as the level of photic phenomena, after cataract surgery with implantation of a trifocal diffractive toric intraocular lens (IOL). METHODS: This prospective study included 56 eyes with corneal astigmatism of 1.00 diopters (D) or greater of 28 patients (age: 23 to 78 years) undergoing cataract surgery with implantation of the trifocal toric IOL AT LISA tri toric 939MP (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Jena, Germany)...

PURPOSE: To study the perception of light distortion after refractive lens exchange (RLE) with diffractive multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs). SETTING: Clínica Oftalmológica das Antas, Porto, Portugal. DESIGN: Retrospective comparative study. METHODS: Refractive lens exchange was performed with implantation of an AT Lisa 839M (trifocal) or 909MP (bifocal toric) IOL, the latter if corneal astigmatism was more than 0...

New soft therapeutic contact lenses after glaucoma surgery provide good results, both in terms of tolerance and efficacy (60% pressure increase in a personal series of ten patients with the Trabeculens contact lens). Indicated for moderate immediate postoperative leakage, their use remains transitory and they should be removed as soon as intraocular pressure is (rapidly) corrected. After glaucoma surgery, wearing contact lenses can be discussed if there are no contraindications and 6-12 months after the intervention in a compliant patient...
