Although the frequency of myocarditis in the general population is very difficult to accurately determine due to the large number of asymptomatic cases, the incidence of this disease is increasing significantly due to better defined criteria for diagnosis and the development of modern diagnostic methods. The multitude of different etiological factors, the diversity of the clinical picture, and the variability of the diagnostic findings make this disease often demanding both for the selection of the diagnostic modality and for the proper therapeutic approach...

INTRODUCTION: Fournier gangrene (FG) is life - threatening condition, defined as the necrotizing fascitis of perineum and can spread to the adjacent areas. It is rare disease and infection is caused by mixed bacterial flora, seldom by fungal infection. Risk factors are: male sex, diabetes, hypertension, malignant neoplasms, alcoholism, immunospression. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The analysis of four group patients treateted for Fournier gangrene was made about diagnostic and therapeutic process, assessment of prognosis based on Fournier's Gangrene Severity Index)...

Bone marrow transplantation (BMT) in young children improves results in β-thalassemia major. Graft versus host disease (GVHD) is an important complication of peripheral blood stem cell transplantation. GVHD affects heart with a behavior resembling an autoimmune disease, including pericardial effusion. We describe a 22-year-old β-thalassemia major patient who underwent bone marrow transplantation with an HLA-identical sibling donor. The patient didn't have any serious problem until 15 months after transplantation...

We review the clinical characteristics of the different forms of chronic active hepatitis, the classification and subclassification of the disease. The natural course and prognosis in the chronic active liver disease has been modified by the appearence of new serologic markers and better definition of clinical characteristics. The disease can be silent or asyntomatic. In an autoimmune chronic active hepatitis, the patients have clinical and biochemical features different from other types of chronic hepatitis, autoantibodies specific, and non specific...

OBJECTIVE: To study the inflammatory immune response to Pneumocystis canii pneumonia(PCP) in rats induced by glucocorticoid(GC). METHODS: The model of PCP was set up by injecting GC subcutanously to SD rats. Lymphocyte proportion in peripheral blood, CD4+/CD8+ T cell ratio of PBL and lymphocyte proportion in the BALF were measured. The levels of sIL-2R and TNF-alpha in the BALF were detected. RESULTS: 1. After the rats were immunospressed, the lymphocyte proportion in the peripheral blood and CD4+/CD8+ ratio of PBL, and the lymphocyte proportion in the BALF were decreased, and the levels of sIL-2R, TNF-alpha in BALF were reduced...
