The aim of the study was to examine factors associated with Malignant Mesothelioma (MM) incidence rate of the groups with occupational asbestos and environmental asbestos or erionite exposure in rural area. In this ecological study, a total of 21 cohort datasets (8 environmental and 13 occupational) were evaluated. Data were analyzed using a multiple linear regression analysis model. In environmental cohorts, the risk of MM incidence was higher in women and people exposed to erionite. In this cohort, the incidence rate of MM increased as the median exposure time increased, while the incidence decreased as the median cumulative exposure dose increased...

Mesothelioma incidence has been analyzed in National Priority Contaminated Sites (NPCSs) to estimate the health impact of asbestos exposure on resident people. The US House of Representative has passed a bill called the "Farm Dust Regulation Prevention Act" (Dust Act) that would exempt most types of particulate matter (PM) in rural areas from the air quality controls of the US Clean Air Act. The Dust Act would markedly change the country's air quality standards. Studies proved that plastic bags with chrysotile asbestos put in rows and piled packs covered by shrinkable film, when stored and cargo handling, are not sources of chrysotile asbestos fibers release into the air of workplace. Transporting mass consignment of chrysotile asbestos on railways in covered waggons, irrespective of package, does not result in higher asbestos load for railway workers, passengers and residents of area near railways.
