The palladium anchored to BisPyP@bilayer-SiO2 @NMP organic-inorganic hybrid was employed as an effective and recyclable organometallic catalyst in Suzuki and Stille C-C coupling reactions. The structure of this magnetic nanocatalyst was determined using various techniques such as SEM, TEM, FT-IR, EDS, ICP-OES, VSM, N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, XRD, and TGA. In both of the mentioned coupling paths, the yields of the products were very favorable and ranged from 90 to 98%. Also, they had significant features compared to previous reports, such as very short reaction time (5-15 and 7-20 min respectively in the Suzuki and Stille reactions), easy work-up, broad substrate scope, ease of separation of the catalyst using a magnet, suitable reproducibility of the catalyst in 6 runs, heterogeneous nature of the catalyst and not washing it during consecutive runs with confirmation of hot filtration and ICP-OES methods...

BACKGROUND: The use of older donors after circulatory death(DCD) for liver transplantation(LT) has increased over the past decade. This study examined whether outcomes of LT using older DCD(≥50 y) have improved with advancements in surgical/perioperative care and normothermic machine perfusion(NMP) technology. METHOD: 7,602 DCD LT cases from the UNOS database(2003-2022) were reviewed. The impact of older DCD donors on graft survival(GS) was assessed using Kaplan-Meier and hazard ratio(HR) analyses...

Molecular dynamics simulations were applied to investigate the formation of P84 polyimide membranes through the non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS) process, considering two scenarios: one using a conventional organic solvent like n-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) and the other a greener alternative, γ-butyrolactone (GBL), with water serving as the non-solvent. Different compositions of polymer solutions were established along the binodal boundaries of the respective systems, derived from experimental cloud point data on the ternary phase diagram...

The separation of CO2 from flue gases presents a crucial challenge that needs to be addressed. However, membrane processes offer a promising alternative solution. Polysulfone (PSF)membranes were prepared using N -methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) and tetrahydrofuran (THF) using a dry-wet phase inversion technique. The membranes were fabricated with the selection of casting parameters, PSF concentration (20-30 wt%), solvent ratio of THF/NMP (0/100-35/65), and evaporation time (0-4 min). In this work, the interaction between these influencing factors during preparation and membrane performance was studied...

In-situ forming poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) implants offer a great potential for controlled drug delivery for a variety of applications, e.g. periodontitis treatment. The polymer is dissolved in a water-miscible solvent. The drug is dissolved or dispersed in this solution. Upon contact with aqueous body fluids, the solvent diffuses into the surrounding tissue and water penetrates into the formulation. Consequently, PLGA precipitates, trapping the drug. Often, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidine (NMP) is used as a water-miscible solvent...

In low-permeability coal reservoirs, utilizing the organic solvent N -methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) has emerged as an effective approach to improving the coal pore structure and enhancing coalbed methane productivity. However, the exact mechanisms of how solvent erosion alters functional groups and develops pores remain incompletely understood. This study utilized Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and low-field nuclear magnetic resonance to assess the impact of NMP on the functional groups and pore structures of lignite, bituminous coal, and anthracite...

BACKGROUND: In organ transplantation, ischemia, and reperfusion injury (IRI) is considered as an inevitable event and the major contributor to graft failure. Ischemia-free liver transplantation (IFLT) is a novel transplant procedure that can prevent IRI and provide better transplant outcomes. However, a large animal model of IFLT has not been reported. Therefore, we develop a new, reproducible, and stable model of IFLT in pigs for investigating mechanisms of IFLT in IRI. METHODS: Ten pigs were subjected to IFLT or conventional liver transplantation (CLT)...

BACKGROUND: The shortage of transplant organs remains a severe global issue. Normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) has the potential to increase organ availability, yet its efficacy is hampered by the inflammatory response during machine perfusion. METHODS: Mouse liver IRI models, discarded human liver models, and porcine marginal liver transplantation models were utilized to investigate whether FXR activation could mitigate inflammation-induced liver damage. Proteasomes are critical for peripheral nervous system (PNS) function. Here, we investigate mammalian PNS proteasomes and reveal the presence of the neuronal membrane proteasome (NMP). We show that specific inhibition of the NMP on distal nerve fibers innervating the mouse hind paw leads to reduction in mechanical and pain sensitivity. Through investigating PNS NMPs, we demonstrate their presence on the somata and proximal and distal axons of a subset of dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons. Single-cell RNA sequencing experiments reveal that the NMP-expressing DRGs are primarily MrgprA3+ and Cysltr2+ ...

Organ transplantation is a triumph of modern medicine which represents a culmination of science and imagination, saving thousands of lives a year. However, transplantation is severely limited by suitable donor allografts. To expand the donor pool and make transplantation achievable for all, normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) is being employed more frequently. Normothermic machine perfusion involves the utilization of a device to approximate the physiology of the human body, preserve organs outside of the donor, and provide a dynamic assessment platform to determine organ suitability for transplantation...
