Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-3 (TIMP3) is vital in regulating several biological processes. TIMP3 exerts antitumour effects via matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-dependent and MMP-independent pathways. Due to promoter methylation and miRNA binding, TIMP3 expression has been observed to decrease in various cancers. Consequently, the migration and invasion of cancer cells increases. Conflicting results have reported that expression levels of TIMP3 in primary and advanced cancers are higher than those in healthy tissues...

Background and Objectives : Endometrial carcinoma is one of the most common gynecological cancers, and benign lesions such as endometrial hyperplasia, polyps, adenomyosis and leiomyomas should be included in the differential diagnosis. Magnetic resonance imaging has an important role in evaluating endometrial cancer and assessing the depth of myometrial invasion, and it closely correlates with the prognosis of the patient. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the MRI semiology of the endometrial carcinomas that mimic benign lesions, the main factors that may affect the correct diagnosis and the feasibility of magnetic resonance imaging to evaluate the depth of the myometrial invasion of endometrial cancer...

The analysis of gene expression quantification data is a powerful and widely used approach in cancer research. This work provides new insights into the transcriptomic changes that occur in healthy uterine tissue compared to those in cancerous tissues and explores the differences associated with uterine cancer localizations and histological subtypes. To achieve this, RNA-Seq data from the TCGA database were preprocessed and analyzed using the KnowSeq package. Firstly, a kNN model was applied to classify uterine cervix cancer, uterine corpus cancer, and healthy uterine samples...

Craniocervical tumors lead to cervical pain, instability, and neurological symptoms, reducing the quality of life. Effective surgical intervention at the craniocervical junction (CCJ) is critical and complex, involving comprehensive approaches and advanced reconstructive techniques. This study, conducted at Mexico City's National Institute of Cancerology, focused on three surgical cases that occurred in 2023 involving tumors at the CCJ: two chordomas and one prostate adenocarcinoma. We utilized a specialized technique: clivus-cervical stabilization reinforced with a polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)-filled cervical mesh...

Geographical variations in high-risk Human Papilloma Virus incidence and type should be considered for vaccine improvement and screening in LMICs. BACKGROUND: Basic leucine zipper and W2 domains 2 ( BZW2 ), a member of the basic domain leucine zipper superfamily of transcription factors, has been implicated in the development and progression of various cancers. However, the precise biological role of BZW2 in pan-cancer datasets remains to be explored. This study aimed to assess the prognostic significance of BZW2 and its immune-related signatures in various tumors. METHODS: Our study investigated the expression, epigenetic modifications, and clinical prognostic relevance of BZW2 using multi-omics data in different cancer types...

Mitochondria and their related genes (MTRGs) are pivotal in the tumour microenvironment (TME) of cervical cancer, influencing prognosis and treatment response. This study developed a prognostic model using MTRGs to predict overall survival (OS) in cervical squamous cell carcinoma and endocervical adenocarcinoma (CESC), aiming for personalized therapy. Analysing 14 MTRGs like ISCU and NDUFA11 through techniques such as univariate Cox regression, we found that a low mitochondrial (MT) score is associated with better survival, while a high MT score predicts poorer outcomes...

Metastatic and recurrent cervical cancer is difficult to treat with limited options following platinum-based chemotherapy. Tisotumab vedotin (TV) is an antibody drug conjugate (ADC) targeted at a tissue factor (TF), which is a cell surface protein that is upregulated in the majority of cervical cancers. Prior clinical trials have demonstrated efficacy of TV in metastatic and recurrent cervical cancer with an objective response rate of 24-26 % with an 8.3 month duration of response. In this case series, we present 3 patients with recurrent or progressive cervical cancer of three different histologies (squamous cell, adenocarcinoma, and human papillomavirus (HPV)-independent gastric type carcinomas)...

A 40-year-old Ethiopian woman presented with a six-month history of non-foul-smelling whitish vaginal discharge. She also reported a one-year history of postcoital bleeding. A pelvic examination revealed a nodular, hard, and fragile cervical mass. In addition, there were nontender, firm nodules in the epigastric, periumbilical, gluteal areas, and thyroid gland. Investigations, including abdominopelvic ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, fine-needle aspiration cytology, and immunohistochemistry, confirmed mixed neuroendocrine carcinoma of the cervix with metastasis to the abdominal wall, gluteal area, lumbar vertebrae, and thyroid gland...

Training machine-learning models with synthetically generated data can alleviate the problem of data scarcity when acquiring diverse and sufficiently large datasets is costly and challenging. Here we show that cascaded diffusion models can be used to synthesize realistic whole-slide image tiles from latent representations of RNA-sequencing data from human tumours. Alterations in gene expression affected the composition of cell types in the generated synthetic image tiles, which accurately preserved the distribution of cell types and maintained the cell fraction observed in bulk RNA-sequencing data, as we show for lung adenocarcinoma, kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma, cervical squamous cell carcinoma, colon adenocarcinoma and glioblastoma...

Villoglandular papillary adenocarcinoma (VPA) or villoglandular adenocarcinoma (VGA) is a rare but well-recognized subtype of cervical carcinoma. It exhibits a favorable prognosis, particularly within the childbearing age group, and is considered a rare manifestation of mucinous adenocarcinoma typically observed in individuals of reproductive age. In comparison to other adenocarcinomas, VPA generally demonstrates a more optimistic prognosis. This report details the case of a 46-year-old perimenopausal woman who presented with complaints of irregular menses and a protruding mass from the vagina...

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is one of the most malignant tumors in digestive system due to its highly invasive and metastatic properties. At present, conventional treatment strategies for PC show the limited clinical efficacy. Therefore, novel effective therapeutic strategies are urgently needed. Here, we report a case of complete remission of advanced PC induced by claudin18.2-targeted CAR-T cell therapy. In the last two decades or so, a spectrum of benign, premalignant and malignant cervical glandular lesions exhibiting gastric differentiation has been described, with gastric-type adenocarcinoma representing the most common human papillomavirus (HPV)-independent cervical adenocarcinoma. More recently, limited literature has reported a variety of gastric-type glandular lesions at other sites within the female genital tract and, as in the cervix (the most common site for these lesions), a spectrum of benign, premalignant and malignant lesions has been proposed...
