A 43-year-old farmer presented to us for evaluation of multiple, itchy, tense vesicles and bullae, containing clear to hemorrhagic fluid, surmounting an urticarial background on his thighs and inguinal area for 20-days (Figure 1a). He was also undergoing evaluation for bilateral metastatic inguinal lymphadenopathy detected 3 months back that had revealed squamous cell carcinoma on cytology. Search for primary was still on. Genital examination incidentally revealed a bright red, well-defined, verrucous plaque on glans penis (Figure 1b)...

BACKGROUND: Traumatic amputation of the penis is a rare surgical emergency. Although repair techniques have been well described in literature, failure of replantation and its causes are poorly understood and reported. Herein, we report the case of a 9 year old boy who underwent replantation of his amputated penis with delayed failure of the surgery, along with a discussion of recent advances in the management of this condition. CASE  PRESENTATION: A 9-year-old boy was referred to our hospital for traumatic amputation of the penis...

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE: Hypospadias is a common congenital malformation of the male genital tract. The most frequent complication after hypospadias repair is urethrocutaneous fistula.(1) Its incidence has been reported up to 35% worldwide.(2) The diagnosis of these fistulas is sometimes challenging particularly with tiny and multiple fistulas. Usually, parents complain of urinary spraying, sprinkling, or passing a single stream of urine from the undersurface of the penis after the surgery...

BACKGROUND: Generalised joint hypermobility (GJH) is reportedly overrepresented among clinical cases of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and developmental coordination disorder (DCD). It is unknown if these associations are dimensional and, therefore, also relevant among non-clinical populations. AIMS: To investigate if GJH correlates with sub-syndromal neurodevelopmental symptoms in a normal population. METHOD: Hakim-Grahame's 5-part questionnaire (5PQ) on GJH, neuropsychiatric screening scales measuring ADHD and ASD traits, and a DCD-related question concerning clumsiness were distributed to a non-clinical, adult, Swedish population (n=1039)...

We present a 74-year-old male patient with 3-years history of visible discoloration of the glans penis, without subjective complaints. Histopathological examination after incision biopsy revealed a moderate increase in the number of melanocytes in the basal layer with irregular distribution, without melanocytic nests, melanophages in the superficial dermis, and subepidermal sclerosus. No cytologic atypia of melanocytes was detectable. The diagnosis of melanosis of the genitalia in association with lichen sclerosus was made...

BACKGROUND: Grafting techniques in the surgical management of Peyronie's disease (PD) are challenging, especially in inexperienced hands. In order to improve surgical outcomes the urologist should follow a standard surgical approach, preferably of an established and reliable grafting technique. The aim of this study is to provide tips and tricks for graft surgery for PD. METHODS: This report offers a step-by-step tutorial for grafting techniques in PD, especially for the Sealing technique and the partial plaque excision and grafting (PEG) procedure...

We isolated a cryptic genospecies of Haemophilus influenzae referred to as 'Haemophilus quentini' in the urethra of 3 men complaining of urethritis symptoms. H. influenzae strains, which had been isolated from the urethra in 77 of 1518 men complaining of urethritis symptoms, identified by the conventional test, and stored, were re-cultured for this study. Sixty-seven strains surviving storage were screened by a PCR-based assay specific for the cryptic genital Haemophilus genospecies. Three strains (HI09003, HI11006, and HI14016) were screened by PCR and identified as 'H...

RATIONALE: Melanoma in situ of the penis is very rare and there are no clear guidelines for its surgical treatment. PATIENT CONCERNS: The authors describe the case of a 69-year-old man who presented with an asymptomatic brown macula on his glans penis and foreskin that appeared about 8 years earlier, enlarged in the last few months. DIAGNOSES: A diagnostic biopsy showed the characteristics of a melanoma in situ. INTERVENTIONS: The authors decided to excise the lesion keeping a healthy margin of 1 cm all over around except close to the urethral meatus, where it was impossible, and where only 5 mm of free margin was excised...

As countries scale up adult voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) for HIV prevention, they are looking ahead to long term sustainable strategies, including introduction of early infant male circumcision (EIMC). To address the lack of evidence regarding introduction of EIMC services in sub-Saharan African settings, we conducted a simultaneous, prospective comparison of two models of EIMC service delivery in Homa Bay County, Kenya. In one division a standard delivery package (SDP) was introduced and included health facility-based provision of EIMC services with community engagement for client referral versus in a different division a standard package plus (SDPplus) that included community-delivered EIMC services...

To assess the correlation between penile hypersensitivity and premature ejaculation (PE), a total of 420 consecutive subjects attending our andrologic clinic for suspected PE were enrolled. The entire cohort was asked to complete the self-report intravaginal ejaculation latency time (IELT) by stopwatch. According to the IELT, the subjects were classified into 3 groups. Vibratory thresholds were recorded at the glans penis and penile shaft using a biothesiometer. We found that vibratory thresholds in the glans penis and penile shaft were significantly lower in both mild and severe PE group than in the control group (3...

BACKGROUND: Extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL) usually presents as a localized disease in the nasal cavity; extension to the male genitourinary system is very rare and has been characterized only recently. Most cases present with predominantly extranodal involvement, advanced stage disease, highly aggressive course, and strong association with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). While metastasis is common in ENKTLs, the penis is rarely involved in both nasal and non-nasal ENKTLs and only one report was published to date...
