The imbalance of land cover categories is a common problem. Some categories appear less frequently in the image, while others may occupy the vast majority of the proportion. This imbalance can lead the classifier to tend to predict categories with higher frequency of occurrence, while the recognition effect on minority categories is poor. In view of the difficulty of land cover remote sensing image multi-target semantic classification, a semantic classification method of land cover remote sensing image based on depth deconvolution neural network is proposed...

Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a common disorder of the central nervous system. The Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale or UPDRS is commonly used to track PD symptom progression because it displays the presence and severity of symptoms. To model the relationship between speech signal properties and UPDRS scores, this study develops a new method using Neuro-Fuzzy (ANFIS) and Optimized Learning Rate Learning Vector Quantization (OLVQ1). ANFIS is developed for different Membership Functions (MFs). The method is evaluated using Parkinson's telemonitoring dataset which includes a total of 5875 voice recordings from 42 individuals in the early stages of PD which comprises 28 men and 14 women...

Bacteriorhodopsin is a biological material with excellent photosensitivity properties. It can directly convert optical signals into electrical signals and is widely used in various biosensors. Here, we present a bR-based wearable pH biometer that can be used to monitor wound infection. The mechanism of the pH-sensitive effect of the bR electrode is explained, which generates a transient photovoltage under light irradiation and a negative photovoltage when the lamp is turned off. Since the photoelectric signal of bR is affected by different pH values, the photovoltage is changed by adjusting the pH value...

A primary sink of air pollutants and their precursors is dry deposition. Dry deposition estimates differ across chemical transport models, yet an understanding of the model spread is incomplete. Here, we introduce Activity 2 of the Air Quality Model Evaluation International Initiative Phase 4 (AQMEII4). We examine 18 dry deposition schemes from regional and global chemical transport models as well as standalone models used for impact assessments or process understanding. We configure the schemes as single-point models at eight Northern Hemisphere locations with observed ozone fluxes...

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: Gastroparesis is a syndrome of delayed gastric emptying without obstruction. There are high rates of Emergency Department (ED) visits due to gastroparesis, and this chronic disease is difficult to treat which often leads to hospital admissions. This study aimed to evaluate the impact droperidol administration has on opioid therapy, symptom relief, co-administration of antiemetic and prokinetic medications, disposition, cost, and length of stay (LOS) of patients presenting to the ED...

Carcinoma of unknown primary (CUP) is a type of metastatic cancer with tissue-of-origin (TOO) unidentifiable by traditional methods. CUP patients typically have poor prognosis but therapy targeting the original cancer tissue can significantly improve patients' prognosis. Thus, it's critical to develop accurate computational methods to infer cancer TOO. While qPCR or microarray-based methods are effective in inferring TOO for most cancer types, the overall prediction accuracy is yet to be improved. In this study, we propose a cross-cohort computational framework to trace TOO of 32 cancer types based on RNA sequencing (RNA-seq)...

In recent years, comprehensive cancer genomics platforms, such as The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), provide access to an enormous amount of high throughput genomic datasets for each patient, including gene expression, DNA copy number alterations, DNA methylation, and somatic mutation. While the integration of these multi-omics datasets has the potential to provide novel insights that can lead to personalized medicine, most existing approaches only focus on gene-level analysis and lack the ability to facilitate biological findings at the pathway-level...

Erosion of piping components, e.g., elbows, is a hazardous phenomenon that frequently occurs due to sand flow with fluids during petroleum production. Early prediction of the sand's erosion rate (ER) is essential for ensuring a safe flow process and material integrity. Some models have been applied to determine the ER of the sand in the literature. However, these models have been created based on specific data to require a model for application to wide-range data. Moreover, the previous models have not studied relationships between independent and dependent variables...

Consensus has been reached that symptoms of depression can begin as early as preschool. Nevertheless, only few studies have associated environmental (malnutrition) and social factors (poverty condition, access to health systems, etc.) to the onset of depression in preschoolers. The aim of this study was to explore possible associations between malnutrition (underweight, overweight/obesity), poverty status (home quality, overcrowding), access to healthcare systems and the presence of depressive symptoms in the preschoolers of a semi-rural community...

Phytosterols are essential structural components of plant cell membranes and possess health-related benefits, including lowering blood cholesterol levels in humans. Numerous analytical methods are being used to profile plant and animal sterols. Chromatography hyphenated to tandem mass spectrometry, is a better option due to its specificity, selectivity, and sensitivity. An ultra-performance supercritical fluid chromatography hyphenated with atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) tandem mass spectrometric method was developed and evaluated for fingerprint analysis of seven phytosterols...

The best predictive optimization tool was determined via a comparative study between these methods and ANN. Predation risk largely constrains prey behavior. However, whether predators may be scary also after death remains unexplored. Here, we describe the "fight-and-flight" responses of a prey, the wild boar ( Sus scrofa ), to carcasses of (a) its main predator, the gray wolf ( Canis lupus ) and (b) a carnivore that very rarely kills wild boars, the red fox ( Vulpes vulpes ), in the western Alps (Italy). We recorded the behavior of wild boars at 10 wolf and 9 fox carcass sites. We found eight "fight-and-flight" responses toward wolf carcasses, and none toward fox carcasses...
