PSYCOSY is an f1 broadband homonuclear decoupled version of the COSY nuclear magnetic resonance pulse sequence. Here, we investigate by a combination of experimental measurements, spatially distributed spin dynamics simulations, and analytical predictions the coherence evolution delay necessary in PSYCOSY experiments to ensure intensity discrimination in favour of the correlations typically arising from short range (n J, n ≤ 3) 1 H-1 H couplings and show that, in general, a coherence evolution delay of around 35 ms is optimum...

AIMS: The aims of the study are to evaluate, in the Italian context, the presence and clinical features of early prodromal symptoms before the psychotic onset and, most of all, the duration of the period between the first onset of any psychiatric symptom and the psychotic onset (Duration of Untreated Illness). MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was carried out on a sample of 296 inpatients with a diagnosis of "non-affective psychosis" enrolled in "Villa dei Fiori" inpatients Clinic in Rome...

Psychiatric manifestations are common in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and often represent a challenging diagnostic and therapeutic problem, mainly because the uncertainties of the pathogenic mechanisms. We report a case of acute psychosis occurring in a female with SLE due to the stress of having a severe disease, rather than to SLE per se.

A 39-year-old man diagnosed as Crohn's disease suffered steroid induced psycosis during treatment for Crohn's disease on July 2001. He was admitted on May 2002, because of progressing high fever, abdominal pain and diarrhea. He was treated with infriximab (5mg/kg) together with mesalazine without steroid. The treatment induced rapid improvement of systematic symptoms together with laboratory data and colonoscopic findings. He kept remission for more than 10 months after a single administration of infliximab (5mg/kg)...

The Authors report a case of eosinophilic cellulitis (Wells' syndrome). The patient was a 61 year old woman, diabetic, with a cardio-respiratory insufficiency and a maniaco-depressive psycosis. She presented, on the upper arms and trunk, a cutaneous eruption of erythematous-urticarial plaques, that histopathologically were characterized by a dermic leukocyte population, with a prevalence of eosinophils, distributed in the perivascular site. Laboratory tests revealed eosinophilia and circulating immune complexes...
