The authors measured the changes of hemodynamics in 72 patients. It was also estimated a blood oxygenation and volume of liquid sectors of the organism in different degree of obesity before and after liposuction of the large volume. It was shown, that this operation facilitated to an improvement of respiratory lung function due to changes of pulmonary circulation.

Decreasing the amount of oxygen in the tissues under hypoxic and ischemic conditions, observed at a number of pathologic processes, inevitably leads to their damage. One of the main causes of cell damage and death is a violation of the systems maintaining ionic balance. Na,K-ATPaseis a basic ion-transporting protein of animal cell plasma membrane and inhibition of the Na,K-ATPase activity at lower concentrations of oxygen is one of the earliest and most critical events for cell viability. Some applications of indirect calorimetry to sports medicine are discussed and exemplified by case reports. In particular, it is suggested that oxigen consumption can be employed to assess the effects of physical activity on fat-free tissues and that the respiratory quotient may offer some insights into the food habits of athletes.

Determination was made of cardiac output (using the stain dilution technique), gases in blood and serum lactate levels in eight infants with hypovolemic shock and sixteen with septic shock. The data were carried to indexes (values per square meter of body surface). In children with hypovolemic shock the cardiac index was 1.88 +/- 0.031/min/m,2 while in septic patients it was 4.02 +/- 1.011/min/m2. In the present study we used a model of underperfusion or anoxia followed by reperfusion to assess the role of glycolysis by substituting pyruvate or mannitol for glucose as substrate. Hearts were removed from male Sprague-Dawley rats (250-400 g) and perfused by the technique of Langendorff. A simple self prepared IMV system (intermittant mandatory ventilation system) is described. Only original parts of Bird are used. The system is in fact a combination of the original Bird-PEEP-system with the CPAP-system described by us [1]. The function, mounting and working of the IMV system is described. With this combined system it is now possible to apply different forms of assisted or nonassisted ventilation (CPAP, PEEP, IMV) utilizing the same system making by minor modifications.
