The purpose of this study is a comparative assessment of ovarian reserve parameters and the effect of these indices on the features of follicle and oogenesis in women of different age groups. A retrospective analysis of IVF results was conducted in 101 patients aged 21 to 49 years. All patients were divided into 4 groups according to age: I group up to 30 y.o. - 45 women, II group - 31-35 y.o - 14 women, III group - 36-40 y.o. - 26 women, IV Group - 41 or more - 16 women. A low ovarian reserve was found in the majority (84,6%) of women in group III and in all women in group IV...

Recent studies reported the important role of autophagy in follicular development. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain elusive. In this study, we investigated the effect of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) on mouse granulosa cells (MGCs). Results indicated that autophagy was induced by FSH, which is known to be the dominant hormone regulating follicular development and granulosa cell (GC) proliferation. The activation of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), a master regulator of autophagy, was inhibited during the process of MGC autophagy...

In this prospective cohort study, oocyte donors were recruited prospectively and assigned to receive corifollitropin alfa: 5 days after pill discontinuation (group D5; 42 donors), or 7 days after pill discontinuation (group D7; 50 donors) in a gonadotrophin-releasing hormone antagonist protocol. Fixed additional daily doses of 200 IU recombinent FSH (rFSH) were started after 7 days of corifollitropinalfa, until triggering. No significant differences in basal characteristics were observed between both groups...

BACKGROUND: The aim of this meta-analysis was to examine differences and predictors of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentrations in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) compared with non-PCOS controls matched for body mass index. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Three databases were searched (2003-2015) to retrieve studies that evaluated serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D in PCOS women and controls. Meta-regression analysis was performed with anthropometric and metabolic/endocrine parameters as covariates...

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to explore the effects of the insemination method on the outcomes of elective blastocyst culture. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed the outcomes of elective blastocyst culture performed between January 2011 and December 2014. RESULTS: There were 2,003 cycles of conventional in vitro fertilization (IVF) and 336 cycles of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), including 25,652 and 4,164 embryos that underwent sequential blastocyst culture, respectively...

Ovarian follicular cysts are one of leading causes of infertility and financial loss in pig breeding program. This study was carried out to investigate the association between polymorphisms of estrogen receptor (ESR), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) β, and leptin genes and follicular cysts in sows. A total of 47 and 120 sows with follicular cysts and normal follicles, respectively, were selected to evaluate whether these candidate loci affect the formation of follicular cysts in sows. The polymorphisms of ESR, FSHβ, FSHβ/HaeIII and leptin genes were tested by PCR and PCR-RFLP methods...

PURPOSE: The purpose this study is to investigate whether a double antagonist dose (0.25 mg/12 h) administered the day before hCG trigger is effective in preventing ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) in GnRH antagonist IVF/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycles at risk for OHSS. METHODS: This is a prospective randomized control study, conducted from November 2012 to January 2016. A total of 194 patients undergoing a IVF/ICSI GnRH antagonist cycle that were at risk of OHSS and chose to proceed with embryo transfer and avoid cycle cancellation or embryo cryopreservation were allocated into two groups...

OBJECTIVE: Little is known about the association between thyroid nodules (TNs) and endogenous sex hormones. We aimed to investigate the relationship between TNs and sex-related hormones among men in China. SETTING: The data were obtained from a cross-sectional study Survey on Prevalence in East China for Metabolic Diseases and Risk Factors (SPECT-China study, 2014-2015) based on the population. PARTICIPANTS: In total, 4024 men over 18 years of age who were not using hormone replacement therapy and who underwent complete assays of the serum total testosterone (T), oestradiol (E2), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinising hormone (LH) and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) levels as well as thyroid ultrasonography (US) enrolled in this study...

Obese women have lower pregnancy rates than normal-weight women undergoing assisted reproductive treatment. We conducted a pilot study to evaluate whether a 12-week diet and exercise intervention before an IVF cycle would influence pregnancy rates in obese women. Forty-one patients were enrolled in this study. They were randomly allocated to two groups: an intervention group (n = 21), who underwent an individualized diet and physical exercise programme supervised by a dietician, and a control group (n = 20), who started IVF with no previous intervention...

The number of oocytes obtained from lambs after FSH treatment is far greater than those acquired from adult ewes. However, these oocytes typically have reduced viability in comparison with adult ewe oocytes. However, the molecular mechanisms of differences in viability between lamb and ewe oocytes remain unknown. In the present research, we applied iTRAQ coupled with LC-MS/MS proteomic analysis in order to investigate the proteomic expression profile of granulosa cells from lambs and ewes following stimulation with FSH...

AIM: To compare the therapeutic effect of 1.88-mg and 3.75-mg gonadotrophin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRHa) in the treatment of stage III-IV endometriosis after laparoscopic surgery. METHODS: Fifty patients with stage III-IV endometriosis diagnosed on laparoscopy were randomized into two groups according to GnRHa dose. Sex hormone level, symptoms of estrogen deficiency and lumbar vertebrae bone density were compared and analyzed between the two groups. RESULTS: Bone density was decreased in both groups at 20 weeks after treatment, and the degree of bone density loss in the full-dose group (5...

BACKGROUND: The most common chromosomal abnormality due to non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA) is Klinefelter syndrome (KS) which occurs in 1-1.72 out of 500-1000 male infants. The probability of retrieving sperm as the outcome could be asymmetrically different between patients with and without KS, therefore logistic regression analysis is not a well-qualified test for this type of data. This study has been designed to evaluate skewed regression model analysis for data collected from microsurgical testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE) among azoospermic patients with and without non-mosaic KS syndrome...

Measurement of endogenous hormones in early life is important to investigate the effects of hormonally active environmental compounds. To assess the possible hormonal effects of different feeding regimens in different sample matrices of infants, 166 infants were enrolled from two U.S hospitals between 2006 and 2009. The children were classified into exclusive soy formula, cow milk formula or breast milk regimens. Urine, saliva and blood samples were collected over the first 12 months of life. Estradiol, estrone, testosterone, luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) levels were measured in the three matrices...
