MXene-based thermal camouflage materials have gained increasing attention due to their low emissivity, however, the poor anti-oxidation restricts their potential applications under complex environments. Various modification methods and strategies, e.g., the addition of antioxidant molecules and fillers have been developed to overcome this, but the realization of long-term, reliable thermal camouflage using MXene network (coating) with excellent comprehensive performance remains a great challenge. Here, a MXene-based hybrid network comodified with hyaluronic acid (HA) and hyperbranched polysiloxane (HSi) molecules is designed and fabricated...

On December 5, 2022, an indirect drive fusion implosion on the National Ignition Facility (NIF) achieved a target gain G_{target} of 1.5. This is the first laboratory demonstration of exceeding "scientific breakeven" (or G_{target}>1) where 2.05 MJ of 351 nm laser light produced 3.1 MJ of total fusion yield, a result which significantly exceeds the Lawson criterion for fusion ignition as reported in a previous NIF implosion [H. Abu-Shawareb et al. (Indirect Drive ICF Collaboration), Phys...

For underactuated robots working in complex environments, an important objective is to drive all variables (particularly for unactuated end-effectors) to move along the specific path and restrict positions/velocities to avoid obstacles, rather than using only point-to-point control. Unfortunately, most path planning methods are only suitable to fully actuated systems or depend on linearized models. The main motivations of our work are to directly fulfill motion constraints and achieve path following for both actuated and unactuated states (e...

The core to the treatment of gout is the elimination of pathologic crystal, monosodium urate monohydrate (MSUM). The primary treatment available is to gradually dissolve the "culprit crystals" by lowering the blood uric acid concentration with medications, which often takes a long time and in severe cases must still be treated surgically. Herein, we developed a dynamic bionic platform based on a hydrogel composite membrane (HCM) to screen the direct facilitated solubilization of MSUM crystals by small organic molecules in bionic saturated, or even supersaturated, solutions...

Hansen solubility parameters (HSP) of 15 commercially relevant biobased and biodegradable polyesters were experimentally determined by applying a novel approach to the classic solubility study method. In this approach, the extent of swelling in polymer films was determined using a simple equation based on the mass difference between swollen and nonswollen film samples to obtain normalized solvent uptake ( N ). Using N and HSPiP software, highly accurate HSP values were obtained for all 15 polyesters. Qualitative evaluation of the HSP values was conducted by predicting the miscibility of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate- co -3-hydroxyhexanoate) (PHB- co -HHx, 7 mol % HHx) and poly(lactic acid) (PLA) with a novel lignin-based plasticizer (ethyl 3-(4-ethoxy-3-methoxyphenyl)propanoate, EP) with a relative energy difference (RED) less than 0...

Clamping bushing structure is an internode connection mechanism designed for the standard section of tubular truss tower. In this paper, the clamping bushing structure of the connecting mechanism of super-large tower crane is taken as the research object, a three-dimensional model of clamping bushing structure is established and imported into ABAQUS, and its multi-body contact model is further constructed to study the contact and bearing relationship of the structure under multiple working conditions, and the accuracy of the calculation results of the model is verified by the experimental stress test under tensile working conditions...

Theoretical design of several proton cranes, based on 7-hydroxyquinoline and 3-hydroxypyridine as proton-transfer frames, has been attempted using ground and excited-state density functional theory (DFT) calculations in various environments. Imidazo[1,2- a ]pyridine, pyrazolo[1,5- a ]pyridine and benzimidazole were considered as proton crane units. The proton crane action requires the existence of a single enol-like form in the ground state, which under excitation goes to the end keto-like one through a series of consecutive excited-state intramolecular proton transfers (ESIPT) and twisting steps with the participation of a crane unit, resulting in a long-range intramolecular proton transfer...

Herein, the detailed mechanism of intramolecular proton transfer in molecular switches, constructed from 7-hydroxy quinoline substituted in the eight-position C-C single axle, connected to three different proton cranes (morpholine, piperidine, and 1,3,5-dioxazine), was investigated by means of theoretical chemistry. The theoretical interpretation of the rotational mechanism and its stable structures were proposed for the well-known Varma's proton crane, based on morpholine molecule. The reliability of the theoretical simulations was confirmed by the available literature data from time-dependent IR measurements...

The typical lake wetlands in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River are important wintering sites of cranes in China. The spatiotemporal evolution of crane populations and their habitats has great value in clarifying the pivotal role of regional lake wetlands in biodiversity conservation. Therefore, 2562 data points of four crane species were selected in this study. The data reflected the distributional position of the cranes over the period 2000-2020. Twelve surrounding environmental factors were selected to investigate the spatiotemporal evolution in the study area by using the MaxEnt model...

An automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) is a key component of enterprise logistics. Its performance metrics include, e.g., order fulfillment time and energy consumption. A crane-based automated storage and retrieval system (CB-AS/RS) is used as the study subject in this paper to build a location allocation model with the goal of minimizing order fulfillment time and minimizing energy consumption. The two-objective problem is transformed into a single-objective problem by the weight method. A genetic algorithm (GA) is used to optimize and simulate the model using spatial mapping coding...

Human error plays a significant role in crane safety. To increase the accuracy and rationality of human error risk prioritization for crane operations, this study proposes a risk prioritization model for human errors in crane operations based on the cumulative prospect theory (CPT) and the improved combination weighting model of game theory (ICWGT). The ICWGT integrates the risk-factor weights obtained via subjective and objective methods. Trapezoidal fuzzy numbers are used to describe experts' uncertainty information...

CONTEXT: Late or residual symptoms diminish quality of life for many cancer survivors after completion of treatment. OBJECTIVES: Examine risk factors associated with persisting symptom burden after chemotherapy and the lack of symptom improvement over time. METHODS: Survivors who completed curative-intent chemotherapy within two years for solid tumors were enrolled into a symptom management trial. There were 375 survivors with two or more comorbid conditions or one comorbid condition and elevated depressive symptoms (pre-defined risk factors in the trial design) who received interventions and 71 survivors without these risk factors who did not receive interventions...

BACKGROUND: Effective biomarkers of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) response provide information beyond available behavioral or self-report measures and may optimize treatment selection for patients based on likelihood of benefit. No single biomarker reliably predicts CBT response. In this study, we evaluated patterns of brain connectivity associated with self-focused attention (SFA) as biomarkers of CBT response for anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders. We hypothesized that pre-treatment as well as pre-to post-treatment changes in functional connectivity would be associated with improvement during CBT in a transdiagnostic sample...

To assess the Siberian crane ( Grus leucogeranus )'s response to changing water levels and habitat quality at Poyang Lake, we analyzed the lake's hydrological trends over the past two decades with the Mann-Kendall and Sen slope methods. Additionally, we explored the link between the crane population size and hydrological conditions at the lake from 2011 to 2019. Meanwhile, five environmental factors, including habitat type, distance from shallow lakes, human footprint index, elevation and normalized vegetation index were selected, and the distribution patterns of suitable habitats for the Siberian crane under 10 water level gradients with intervals of about 1 m (5...

Current understanding of what sustains public health programs is derived primarily from evaluations of programs delivered for only a few years. To improve program planning and knowledge on program sustainment, we examined real-world population programs that have been delivered for >2 years. Our focus was physical activity and nutrition programs for obesity prevention. We identified programs through published literature and searched through publicly available information on the theoretical factors determining sustainment...

BACKGROUND: To date, beneficial effects of multimodal exercise programmes on Parkinson's disease (PD) have focused on motor symptoms and little attention has been paid to the potential effects of such programmes on the non-motor symptoms of PD, which are now universally known as one of the key drivers of quality of life and a key unmet need. We aim to explore clinical effectiveness of a ballet-based dance programme in addressing non-motor and motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease across all stages of progression...
