During the last decade, stereotactic radiotherapy has widely improved in France. Thus one should study the present situation and its future trend. QUANTITATIVE NEED: Considering single dose radiotherapy, there are about 900 to 1,000 cases treated per year. However, the trend towards more fractionated treatment will disturb this temporary equilibrium; thus more machine time will be necessary. QUALITATIVE NEED: Stereotactic radiotherapy is practiced by multi-disciplinary teams including physicians, physicists and scientific specialists...

Taking the opportunity of a richness of clinical and radiological manifestations from an uncommon pathology, the authors present a case on polyostotic bony--fibrous displasia with a large envelopment of the facial-skull massif, and outstand the role of the stomatologist as member of a multidisciplinary medical team and the successful therapheutical result achieved through the surgical intervention performed.

This essay attempts to address the perennial question 'Why Paranasal Sinuses?'. In doing so it highlights the flaws in many much-favoured but ill-founded theories concerning the role of these sinuses in humans. It is concluded that the question can only be fully answered through a greater understanding of differential growth changes within the craniofacial massif.

Xeroradiography is a new and simple radiodiagnostic technique that makes it possible to analyse on one positive film not only the bone tissue but also the neighbouring structures (ligaments, muscles, fatty tissue, the vessels, and the skin). On the basis of about 100 examinations, the authors indicate the value and the limitations of the technique in rheumatological practice. Because of the technical aspects of the technique, the dorsolumbar spine and the facial massif are poorly visualized. The swamping of the contrast also limits its use for cases of demineralization (osteoporosis)...
