Ki-67 antigen expression is closely associated with the cell cycle. Its expression is in almost the entire mitosis in cell cycle. Detection of Ki-67 antigen can reflect the cell proliferation activity in hematological malignancies. Detection of Ki-67 has been widely applied in staging, therapy effect monitoring and prognosis judgment in lymphoma. There has been a lot of studies investigating the expression of Ki-67 in acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and investigating the relevance between Ki-67 expression and therapy effect and prognosis...

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), as a kind of atomic emission spectroscopy, has been considered to be a future new tool for chemical analysis due to its unique features, such as no need of sample preparation, stand-off or remote analysis. What's more it can achieve fast and multi-element analysis. Therefore, LIBS technology is regarded as a future "SurperStar" in the field of chemical analysis and green analytical techniques. At present, rapid and accurate detection and prevention of soil contamination (mainly in pollutants of heavy metals and organic matter) is deemed to be a concerned and serious central issue in modern agriculture and agricultural sustainable development...

The pathophysiology and treatment for renal bone disease have made remakable progress. Moreover, osteocyte reseach has made tremendous progress. In the clinical aspect, (1) hyperphosphatemia, (2) hyperparathyroid and hypoparathyroid bone disease in patients with chronic kidney disease, (3) increased serum level of fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF-23) and(4) reduced level of Klotho should be taken into consideration when analyzing these conditions. On the other hand, hyperphosphatemia must be successfully treated...

Vanadium dioxide (VO₂) film will be phase-transitioned from insulator into metal, accompanied with dramatic change on conductivity, which is named as photo-induced insulator-metal phase transition. Such phase transition of VO₂ film has important application potentials in modulators or other functional devices for terahertz waves. In this paper, the transmission spectrum variations before and after the photo-induced insulator-metal phase transition of vanadium dioxide film are investigated, and the phase transition properties in terahertz(THz) region are analyzed...

The free-living SAR11 clade is a globally abundant group of oceanic Alphaproteobacteria, with small genome sizes and rich genomic A+T content. However, the taxonomy of SAR11 has become controversial recently. Some researchers argue that the position of SAR11 is a sister group to Rickettsiales. Other researchers advocate that SAR11 is located within free-living lineages of Alphaproteobacteria. Here, we use the natural vector representation method to identify the evolutionary origin of the SAR11 clade. This alignment-free method does not depend on any model assumptions...

Leptomeningeal metastasis (LM) is one of the disastrous events in managing advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) due to severe clinical symptoms and a grave prognosis. Although intrathecal (IT) chemotherapy show some effects for LM in advanced NSCLC, the prognosis is still poor (12 wk-14 wk). A large majority (84%-97%) of the patients were found to have adenocarcinoma histology. Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) senstive mutations were detected in 43.0%-70.5% adenocarcinoma patients with LM. EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) showed to be effective for LM in selected NSCLC patients in some reseaches, and confer a survival benefit...

A sound knowledge of the nature of qualitative research, along with an appreciation of some special ethical considerations, is needed for rigorous reviews to be conducted. The overall character of qualitative research is described with an emphasis on the tendency of qualitative researchers to explore sensitive topics using theoretically informed methods. A number of specific features of qualitative that require additional ethical attention and awareness are also examined including the following: 1) participants are frequently quite vulnerable and require protection because the data collection methods, such as in-depth interviews, can delve into personally and politically charged matters; 2) naturalistic observation can raise concerns regarding privacy and consent; 3) the potential for the identifiability of the results of this research may require extra efforts to maintain confidentiality...

System epilepsy is an emerging concept interpreting major nonlesional epilepsies as epileptic dysfunctions of physiological systems. I extend here the concept of reflex epilepsy to epilepsies linked to input dependent physiological systems. Experimental and clinical reseach data were collected to create a coherent explanation of underlying pathomechanism in AE and NFLE. We propose that AE should be interpreted as epilepsy linked to the corticothalamic burst-firing mode of NREM sleep, released by evoked vigilance level oscillations characterized by reactive slow wave response...

ST2 is a member of IL-1 receptor family expressed on Th2 cells and regulates Th2 responces. The gene of ST2 encodes soluble ST2 (sST2) and the transmembrane ST2 (ST2L) isoforms through alternative mRNA splicing. The discovery of IL33/ ST2 signaling pathway, has drawn a great scientific attention to this system. sST2 has been shown to be an indacating factor in various infl ammatory conditions. This study aims to evaluate serum sST2 levels in HTLV-1 infected patients. This study included 49 HTLV-1 seropositive cases of which 14 were sympthomatic...

This article develops a comprehensive critique of historical research focussing on the mutual relations between social power and violence. According to the methodological initial hypothesis, due to the inadequate distinction between indigenious concept (from sources) and heuristic (from reseach) in the historical sciences, there have been very few valuable insights into these relations to date. In order to expand the research focus which is the objective of this article, the analysis draws on the two actor-centric reference systems of "certainty" and "order"...

The philosophy of science yields 3 important functions in the teaching of medical history. Firstly, by analyzing the development of medicine from the perspective of philosophy, we can integrate medical history into the history of human thought and clearly show the close connection between the development of humanity and the development of medical science. Secondly, philosophical analysis on the general rules of scientific discoveries involved in medical history can help medical students to understand the methodology in the research of sciences in history...
