A highly efficient fluorescent sensor (S-DAC) was easily created by functionalizing the SBA-15 surface with N-(2-Aminoethyl)-3-Aminopropyltrimethoxysilane followed by the covalent attachment of 7-diethylamino 3-acetyl coumarin (DAC). This chemosensor (S-DAC) demonstrates selective and sensitive recognition of Fe3+ and Hg2+ in water-based solutions, with detection limits of 0.28 × 10-9 M and 0.2 × 10-9 M for Hg2+ and Fe3+ , respectively. The sensor's fluorescence characteristics were examined in the presence of various metal ions, revealing a decrease in fluorescence intensity upon adding Fe3+ or Hg2+ ions at an emission wavelength of 400 nm...

We synthesized Au/Fe3 O4 microparticles. Initially, citrate-capped Fe3 O4 micro-sized particles were synthesized by the co-precipitation method with an excess amount of trisodium citrate. Gold ions were reduced on the surface of citrate-capped Fe3 O4 and grew as gold sub-microparticles with an average diameter of 210 nm on the surface. The characteristic SPR peak of gold nanoparticles on the surface of Fe3 O4 was detected at 584 nm, whereas the absorption in the near-infrared region was increased...

The development of aqueous zinc ion batteries (AZIBs) is hindered by several problems, including Zn dendrite/corrosion, side reactions, and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Herein, trisodium citrate (NaCit) additive is introduced into the ZnSO4 electrolyte to guide the preferred Zn(002) crystal plane growth, while the Cit- is preferentially adsorbed on the active sites to suppress the HER and Zn corrosion, thus achieving uniform Zn deposition without dendrites. The stable cycle life can reach 2000 h at 0...

In anti-cancer metastasis treatment, precise drug delivery to cancer cells remains a challenge. Innovative nanocomposites are developed to tackle these issues effectively. The approach involves the creation of manganese oxide (Mn3 O4 ) nanoparticles (NPs) and their functionalization using trisodium citrate to yield functionalized Mn3 O4 NPs (F-Mn3 O4 NPs), with enhanced water solubility, stability, and biocompatibility. Subsequently, the chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin (DOX) is encapsulated with Mn3 O4 NPs, resulting in DOX/Mn3 O4 NPs...

We have further demonstrated that low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) can be used to effectively induce the release of anti-cancer drugs from the surface of gold nanoparticles in an ex vivo tissue model. With this protocol, gold nanoparticles can be easily loaded with different types of anticancer drugs, irrespective of their affinity towards water, and even hydrophobic molecules, like curcumin, can be attached onto the gold nanoparticles in an aqueous medium...

A gold nanourchin (AuNU) probe with a novel sensing mechanism for monitoring H2 S was developed as a feasible colorimetric sensor. In this study, AuNUs that are selectively responsive to H2 S were fabricated in the presence of trisodium citrate and 1,4-hydroquinone using a seed-mediated approach. Upon exposure of the AuNU solution to H2 S, the hydrosulfide ions (HS- ) in the solution are converted into oligomeric sulfides by 1,4-hydroquinone used as a reducing agent during the synthesis of AuNUs. The oligomeric sulfides formed in the AuNU solution upon the addition of H2 S were found to coat the surface of the AuNUs, introducing a blue shift in absorption accompanied by a color change in the solution from sky blue to light green...

Heavy metal pollution is a significant threat to both the environment and living organisms. This is especially vital considering the persistent and cumulative nature of heavy metal exposure, which can lead to severe and chronic health consequences for individuals. Therefore, implementing effective treatments is critical to addressing the serious public health issues posed by heavy metal pollution. In this study, nontargeted metabolomics was carried out to investigate the metabolic changes associated with long-term low-dose intake of mixed heavy metal pollutants (MHMPs) in liver, kidney, and plasma samples of Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats with and without treatment to reveal the underlying toxic effects of MHMPs and the effects of chemoprevention agents, including epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), trisodium citrate dihydrate (TCD), and glutathione (GSH)...
