This MIB guide briefly summarizes the generation of patient-derived xenografts (PDXs) and highlights the importance of validating PDX models for the presence of B cell lymphoma of human origin before their use in radiotheranostic applications. The use of this protocol will allow researchers to learn different methods for screening PDX models for Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-infected B cell lymphoma.

Continuous and aberrant activation of myofibroblasts is the hallmark of pathological fibrosis (e.g., abnormal wound healing). The deposition of excessive extracellular matrix (ECM) components alters or increases the stiffness of tissue and primarily accounts for multiple organ dysfunctions. Among various proteins, Cadherin-11 (CDH11) has been reported to be overexpressed on myofibroblasts in fibrotic tissues. Anti-apoptotic proteins such as (B cell lymphoma-2) (BCL-2) are also upregulated on myofibroblasts...

A reciprocal t(3;8) BCL6::MYC fusion is common in large B cell lymphoma (LBCL) with MYC and BCL6 disruption. These pseudo-double hit cases are not adverse, whereas t(3;8) negative MYC/BCL6 lymphoma has an inferior prognosis relative to other MYC-rearranged LBCL.

Richter syndrome (RS) describes a phenomenon in which a patient with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) develops an aggressive lymphoma, most commonly diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Reports of cutaneous RS remain exceedingly rare. We report a 61-year-old woman with relapsed/refractory CLL presenting with several subcutaneous nodules on her arms and legs and a single dermal plaque on her abdomen. Skin biopsy revealed a diagnosis of DLBCL, ABC-type, and her clinical status rapidly deteriorated following diagnosis...

INTRODUCTION: Studies have compared chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies and salvage chemotherapy in relapsed/refractory large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) patients, but further evidence of their relative effectiveness is warranted. METHODS: Our systematic review identified studies comparing efficacy and safety outcomes of axicabtagene ciloleucel (axi-cel), lisocabtagene maraleucel (liso-cel) and tisagenlecleucel (tisa-cel) trials to salvage chemotherapy cohorts in LBCL patients with ≥ 2 prior lines of treatment; and an extended evidence network included indirect comparisons comparing CAR T-cell therapies...

Cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCL) are a group of lymphoproliferative disorders of skin-homing T cells causing chronic inflammation. These disorders cause impairment of the immune environment, which leads to severe infections and/or sepsis due to dysbiosis. In this study, we elucidated the host-microbial interaction in CTCL that occurs during the phototherapeutic treatment regime and determined whether modulation of the skin microbiota could beneficially affect the course of CTCL. EL4 T-cell lymphoma cells were intradermally grafted on the back of C57BL/6 mice...

A 75-year-old woman on tumor necrosis factor inhibitors for rheumatoid arthritis presented with hematemesis and a gastric biopsy revealed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma with possible bulky left liver tumor involvement. On the second day of treatment with rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone, the patient experienced abdominal pain followed by shock vitals. A contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan revealed a ruptured liver. Transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) was performed to stop the bleeding...

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis is commonly associated with immunosuppression and can cause irreversible vision loss. Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy has emerged as an effective cancer treatment option but requires immunosuppression, thereby increasing the possibility of acquiring opportunistic infections such as CMV. We present the case of a 76-year-old female with a history of hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus who initially presented with shortness of breath and was diagnosed with the activated B-cell subset of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL)...

Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a rare and life-threatening condition that results from excessive immune activation and inflammation. This condition may be triggered by various factors, including infections, malignancies, or autoimmune diseases. Here, we report the case of a 39-year-old male who developed HLH secondary to T-cell lymphoma and had a history of multiple autoimmune disorders. Our patient presented with shortness of breath and weakness which led to an admission for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia...

Primary myelofibrosis (PMF) is a rare myeloproliferative neoplasm characterized by elevated platelet counts and fibrous tissues in the bone marrow. The JAK1/2 inhibitor (JAKi), ruxolitinib, has demonstrated efficacy in reducing splenic size, alleviating myelofibrosis-related symptoms, and improving overall survival. While an increased risk of lymphoproliferative disease (LPD) is suggested in patients with PMF, particularly those treated with JAKi, the involvement of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) in such cases remains poorly documented...

OBJECTIVES: This study assessed the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) stimulation at different frequencies at the Dazhui and Baihui acupoints in the subacute phase after transient global cerebral ischemia (GCI). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Rats were subjected to GCI for 25 min, followed by reperfusion for 7 days. EA at acupoints was performed at 10, 30, or 50 Hz, 1 day after reperfusion and then once daily for 6 consecutive days. RESULTS: EA at acupoints at 10 and 50 Hz effectively down-regulated apoptosis in the hippocampal cornu ammonis 1(CA1) area and ameliorated memory deficits...

The selection of anticoagulant therapy and appropriate duration of treatment for central venous (CV) catheter-associated internal jugular vein thrombosis in patients with malignant lymphoma remain unclear. Two cases of aggressive B-cell lymphomas treated with R-CHOP (rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisolone), in which apixaban administered for less than three months was effective against CV catheter-associated internal jugular vein thrombosis, are reported. In one case, the right internal jugular vein thrombosis developed after eight courses of R-CHOP; when apixaban was orally administered for 37 days after the CV catheter was removed, the thrombus completely dissolved and did not recur for 27 months...

Obesity is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Gambi-jung (GBJ), a modified herbal formula of Taeumjowi-tang, induces weight loss in high-fat diet (HFD)-fed obese mice. Meanwhile, concerns have been raised regarding Ephedra sinica Stapf (ES), the primary herb of GBJ, having potential adverse cardiovascular effects. However, there have been no reports on the effects of ES and ephedrine-containing products on obesity-induced cardiac apoptosis. Therefore, to investigated the effect of GBJ and ES on HFD-induced cardiac apoptosis, we utilized Western blot analysis, TUNEL-staining, and histological staining of heart tissues from HFD-fed obese mice...

BACKGROUND Marginal zone lymphoma is a low-grade, B-cell, non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Bone marrow involvement (BMI) of leukemia or lymphoma can usually be displayed in fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (¹⁸F-FDG PET/CT) with high standardized uptake values (SUV), while diffuse homogeneous ¹⁸F-FDG bone marrow uptake (BMU) in PET/CT primarily reflects hyperplastic bone marrow status. This report is of a 74-year-old man presenting with anemia and a diagnosis of recurrent marginal zone lymphoma with bone marrow involvement identified with 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging and biopsy...
