Climate change threatens the sustainability of food production among farmers in Kenya who depend on rain-fed agriculture. To minimize the negative impacts of climate change, farmers have sought to adopt different adaptation strategies. This study investigates factors influencing farmers' choice of climate change adaptation strategies and associated effects on their food security in Kenya using data collected from 540 farmers from six counties. A multivariate probit, censored least absolute deviation (CLAD), and propensity score matching (PSM) models were employed to identify the determinants in the farmers' choice of climate change adaptation strategies, the number of adaptation strategies adopted, and the effect of climate change adaptation strategies on their food security, respectively...

Dealing with a difficult airway is familiar to emergency care providers in both the prehospital and clinical settings. In anesthesiology and emergency medical care different algorithms almost equal in their wording have been introduced, indicating that an emergency front of neck airway access (eFONA) has to be established in the case of a cannot ventilate-cannot oxygenate situation. In a survey (Surveymonkey®) data concerning the level of experience with eFONA, devices required, previous training and complications were allocated among acute and emergency care providers of different backgrounds (doctors and paramedics)...

OBJECTIVE: The authors aimed to evaluate the impact of a staff development training program informed by the collaborative recovery model (CRM) on staff outcomes in the largest implementation of CRM undertaken by a public clinical mental health service. METHODS: Implementation spanned community, rehabilitation, inpatient, and crisis programs for children and youths, adults, and older persons in metropolitan Melbourne, 2017-2018. The CRM staff development program was cofacilitated and coproduced by trainers with clinical and lived experience of recovery (including caregivers) and delivered to the mental health workforce (N=729, including medical, nursing, allied health, lived experience, and leadership staff)...

INTRODUCTION: To describe the design and implementation of a Crisis Resource Management (CRM) training program for the initial assessment of polytrauma patients. METHODS: Prospectively implemented CRM training program in acute-care tertiary hospital by hospital personnel involved in the care of polytraumatisms. The program has a blended format and 23-h duration, including 11 hours of online theoretical training followed by 12-h simulation modules and practical cases devoted to the roles of members of the trauma team, functioning of the polytrauma room, and key aspects of teamwork...

Objective: The prognostic factors for elderly patients with cervical cancer differ from those of younger patients. Competitive risk events could cause biases in the Cox proportional hazards (PH) model. This study aimed to construct a competitive risk model (CRM) nomogram for patients aged > 65 years with nonmetastatic cervical cancer. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database and a total of 1856 patients from 18 cancer registries across the United States diagnosed between 2010 and 2015 were included...

This study aims to test chemometrically partial least squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) classification models to detect the adulteration of patchouli oil (PO) with gurjun balsam oil (GBO) by utilization of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Unsupervised analysis was tested using the pattern recognition method using the principal component analysis model against the original spectrum at wavenumbers 4000-500 cm-1 and at the fingerprint area (1800-600 cm-1 ). Model testing was also carried out on the spectrum that had been pre-processed using the standard normal variate, second derivative Savitzky-Golay, and normalization approaches...

BACKGROUND: Improved function is associated with reduced morbidity and mortality in patients with cancer. Cancer rehabilitation medicine (CRM) is a subspecialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) that focuses on improving function in patients with cancer. One of the barriers to patients accessing CRM services is the lack of referrals from oncology providers. Understanding the knowledge, attitudes and beliefs of oncology trainees regarding the importance of function and the role of CRM is essential to reducing educational gaps and improving patients' access to essential rehabilitation services...

PURPOSE: Reducing the radiation exposure experienced by patients in total-body computed tomography (CT) imaging has attracted extensive attention in the medical imaging community. A low radiation dose may result in increased noise and artifacts that greatly affect the subsequent clinical diagnosis. To obtain high-quality total-body low-dose CT (LDCT) images, previous deep learning-based research works developed various network architectures. However, most of these methods only employ normal-dose CT (NDCT) images as ground truths to guide the training process of the constructed denoising network...

Customer churn is one of the most critical issues faced by the telecommunication industry (TCI). Researchers and analysts leverage customer relationship management (CRM) data through the use of various machine learning models and data transformation methods to identify the customers who are likely to churn. While several studies have been conducted in the customer churn prediction (CCP) context in TCI, a review of performance of the various models stemming from these studies show a clear room for improvement...

Recently, self-supervised video object segmentation (VOS) has attracted much interest. However, most proxy tasks are proposed to train only a single backbone, which relies on a point-to-point correspondence strategy to propagate masks through a video sequence. Due to its simple pipeline, the performance of the single backbone paradigm is still unsatisfactory. Instead of following the previous literature, we propose our self-supervised progressive network (SSPNet) which consists of a memory retrieval module (MRM) and collaborative refinement module (CRM)...

INTRODUCTION: Throughout training, emergency medicine (EM) residents must learn to work within, and eventually lead, multidisciplinary teams in high-acuity dynamic situations. Most residents do not undergo formal resuscitation team leadership training but learn these skills through mentorship by and observation of senior physicians. We designed and implemented a formal simulation-based leadership training program for EM residents. METHODS: We developed a resuscitation team leadership curriculum in which 24 junior EM residents participated in an initial simulation of a critically ill patient before undergoing a didactic presentation regarding crisis resource management (CRM) principles...
