This paper outlines a systematic literature review undertaken to establish current evidence regarding the impact of Business Intelligence (BI) on health system decision making and organizational performance. The review also examined BI implementation factors contributing to these constructs. Following the systematic review, inductive content analysis was used to categorize themes within the eight articles identified. This study demonstrated there is little evidence based literature focused on BI impact on organizational decision making and performance within health care...

PURPOSE: To determine whether limbal epithelial stem cells (LESCs) repopulate the site harvested for limbal autograft transplantation (LAT), the expression of LESCs markers was evaluated in bioptic specimens obtained from the donor area 12 months or more after surgery. DESIGN: Interventional case series. PARTICIPANTS: Patients who underwent LAT for unilateral acquired limbal stem cell deficiency after chemical burn. There is a growing need for low-cost, rapid and reliable diagnostic results in veterinary medicine. Point-of-care (POC) tests have tremendous advantages over existing laboratory-based tests, due to their intrinsic low-cost and rapidity. A considerable number of POC tests are presently available, mostly in dipstick or lateral flow formats, allowing cost-effective and decentralised diagnosis of a wide range of infectious diseases and public health related threats. Although, extremely useful, these tests come with some limitations...

The paradoxical frog Pseudis tocantins is the only species in the Hylidae family with known heteromorphic Z and W sex chromosomes. The Z chromosome is metacentric and presents an interstitial nucleolar organizer region (NOR) on the long arm that is adjacent to a pericentromeric heterochromatic band. In contrast, the submetacentric W chromosome carries a pericentromeric NOR on the long arm, which is adjacent to a clearly evident heterochromatic band that is larger than the band found on the Z chromosome and justify the size difference observed between these chromosomes...

BACKGROUND: Psoroptic otoacariasis has been described worldwide and is caused by a mite morphologically indistinguishable from the sheep scab mite Psoroptes ovis. A single treatment of affected sheep with 200 μg/kg of injectable ivermectin is reported to be curative. CASE REPORT: Psoroptes mites were isolated following treatment with ivermectin, but treatment with moxidectin at 1 mg/kg caused complete cessation of clinical signs. Affected animals were seropositive to Pso o 2 antigen enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and had serum haptoglobin concentrations that overlapped with those described for field infections of classical sheep scab...

PURPOSE: To evaluate whether a discrepancy between the orientation of graft and recipient collagen lamellae can significantly limit the visual acuity after Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK). METHODS: A multicenter cohort study of eyes that underwent DSAEK for Fuchs endothelial dystrophy or pseudophakic bullous keratopathy at Villa Serena-Villa Igea private Hospitals (Forlì, Italy) and at Santa Maria Nuova public hospital (Reggio Emilia, Italy), which were scheduled for a postoperative examination between July and September 2014...

PARTICIPANTS: Twenty human donor corneas unsuitable for transplantation with endothelial cell density in a range of 1600-2700 cells/mm(2). INTERVENTION: The endothelium was punched, stripped (8.5 mm diameter) and manually tri-folded with the endothelial side inward...

This is a report of two cases in which tissue that had undergone radial keratotomy (RK) was utilized for double-pass ultrathin Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (UT-DSAEK). Postoperative slit-lamp examination, visual acuity, anterior segment optical coherence tomography, and specular microscopy were available 30 months after surgery. Both corneas from a donor, who had undergone RK several years before his demise, and were otherwise suitable for endothelial keratoplasty were prepared for UT-DSAEK using double-pass dissection using first a 300 mm microkeratome head and then a 130μm microkeratome head (ALTK system, Moria, Antony, France)...

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the validity of measurements of medial rotation (MR) of the shoulder, using vertebral levels, according to the variation in the position of the humeral diaphysis, and to test the bi-goniometer as a new measuring instrument. METHODS: 140 shoulders (70 patients) were prospectively evaluated in cases presenting unilateral shoulder MR limitation. The vertebral level was evaluated by means of a visual scale and was correlated with the angle obtained according to the position of the humeral diaphysis, using the bi-goniometer developed with the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Mackenzie University...

PURPOSE: To analyze corneal stromal lamellae orientation in normal subjects and patients with various corneal conditions using a polarimetric interferometer. METHODS: Thirty-two healthy control subjects (59 eyes) and 16 patients (22 eyes) with corneal conditions or postkeratoplasty were included in the study. All patients were imaged using the interferometer and slit lamp photography. The interferometer produces an orthogonal cross-like image of stromal lamellae by illuminating the cornea in phase-light polarization angle...

PURPOSE: To evaluate the outcomes of a new technique for deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) employing the injection of air up to 2 mm inside a deep trephination (intended within 100 μm from the endothelial surface) obtained with a guarded trephine set by means of anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS OCT). DESIGN: Retrospective, noncomparative, interventional case series. METHODS: The success rate and learning curve of pneumatic dissection in one clinical practice were analyzed in nonscarred keratoconic eyes undergoing a standardized DALK including 9-mm trephination intended to a depth within 100 μm from the endothelial surface, based on the thinnest AS OCT measurement at this site; and injection of air through a cannula advanced 1-2 mm centripetally from the bottom of the trephination...
