The aim of our work was to examine the cytotoxicity of NiCr alloys coated with Ti(C,N) with different amounts of C and N in the layer on human gingival fibroblasts. Cells were cultured for 24 hours in the alloy extracts or on the surface of tested materials. The viability of the cells exposed to 1-, 3-, 5- and 7-day extracts did not change in comparison to the viability of cells cultured in a control medium assayed by an MTT test. Moreover, the flow cytometry analysis of fibroblasts cultured in direct contact with tested alloys revealed that all coatings except TiC did not induce apoptosis or necrosis...

While there is a hereditary component to tori, this does not explain all cases. Tori tend to appear more frequently during middle age of life; the torus palatinus is more commonly observed in females, but this is not the case with the torus mandibularis. Certain ethnic groups are more prone to one torus or the other. The torus is mainly removed due to prostodontic reasons, as it may also be used as biomaterial, not only in periodontology, but also in implantology. The aim of this study was a review of the literature from the past twenty years...

Oclusal adjustment or selective grinding is an operative procedure that must be diagnosed and well planned before making in the patient the clinical steps. Thus it's critical to make the diagnosis and treatment planning by means of casts mounted on semiadjustables articulators, over which is necessary to work first. Remember that the oclusal adjustment is an irreversible media of dental structures substraction that can be made as a unique type of treatment before the operative dentistry and prostodontics. The elimination of the symptoms are the goal of the treatment, and a step that can't be avoided after an ortodontic treatment...

We carried out successful oral rehabilitation of a 17 year old female patient, who had a congenital cleft lip and palate. Having been operated on several times, she still had residual cleft on her palate. We used removable metal plate clipped to the cemented circular bridge to cover the communication. It is known that fixed prostodontics are more acceptable for patients, and cause less psychical difficulties, especially in cases of patients with congenital disorders, which have already caused psychical disturbances...
