A transient reduction of cell coupling during reperfusion limits myocardial necrosis, but little is known about its arrhythmogenic effects during ischemia-reperfusion. Thus, we analyzed the effect of an extreme reduction in the number of gap junction channels or in their unitary conductance on ventricular arrhythmias during myocardial ischemia-reperfusion. Available gap junction uncouplers have electrophysiological effects independent from their uncoupling actions. Thus, isolated hearts from Cx43(Cre-ER(T)/fl) mice treated with 4-hydroxytamoxifen (4-OHT), from Cx43KI32 mice [in which connexin (Cx)43 was replaced with Cx32], and from control animals were submitted to regional ischemia and reperfusion, and spontaneous and induced ventricular arrhythmias were monitored...

Studied inotropic reaction papillary muscles of rats with postinfarction and diabetic remodeling on extrasistolic influences. It was found, that excitability of myocardium rats raises at a diabetes induced streptozotocin. Postextrasistolic contraction of myocardium rats with postinfarction cardiosclerosis it was considerably oppressed, and rhythmoinitropic reaction of myocardium rats was comparable to reaction of intact myocardium at a diabetes induced streptozotocin. The combination postinfarction and diabetic influence is paradoxical promoted preservation postextrasistolic potentiation of myocardium rats...

An evaluation was done of the character and circadian patterns of cardiac rhythm in 157 patients with ischemic heart disease, postinfarction cardiosclerosis, who ranged from 34 to 73 years old, with a history of preinfarction and early postinfarction stenocardia. It has been found out that in patients with postinfarction cardiosclerosis there prevail supraventricular and ventricular extrasistole in the structure of the heart's rhythm disturbances. Other rhythm disturbances occur very seldom. Supraventricular and ventricular tachycardia are more commonly seen in patients with a history of early postinfarction angina...

The first part of this paper is devoted to discuss the necessity of using time-varying magnetic fields, with frequencies up to a few kHz, during NMR tomographic and spectroscopic clinical examinations. It is then shown that these magnetic fields induce in the biological systems an electric field, with associated current densities, whose intensities span from physiological currents to currents able to depolarize the axonal membrane. Therefore particular emphasis is given to the involvement of excitable tissues, which can produce biological responses of variable intensity, from the less hazardous, such as magnetophosphenes, to muscle twitches, to more serious phenomena, such as extrasistoles and ventricular fibrillation...

The present study has been carried out on 50 patients admitted to C.C.U. for cardiovascular diseases of various ethiology (44 patients with ischemic heart disease) who required antiarrhythmic theory for different types of ventricular arrhythmias: monofocal ventricular extrasistoles greater than 6/min, bigeminal ventricular extrasistoles, polifocal and/or repetitive ventricular tachycardias. The patients have been randomly allocated into two groups of 25 subjects: the first one has been treated with Mexiletine and the second with Lidocaine...
