BACKGROUND: Men with localized invasive penile cancer (PC) can be treated with organ-sparing treatments with different functional and aesthetical outcomes. Thus, the aim of this study is to investigate sexual outcomes in patients with PC confined to the glans that underwent wide local excision (WLE) vs. glansectomy with urethral glanduloplasty. METHODS: Complete data from 60 patients with PC were analyzed at our institution from 2017 to 2022. Patients were asked for personal habits and clinical features...

Penile implants are surgically inserted devices used for the treatment of erectile disfunction. Improvements in surgical techniques and in the manufacturing of these implants have reduced the risk of intra- and postoperative complications and increased the popularity and use of this therapeutic option. Routine imaging is not recommended before penile prosthesis surgery. Malleable penile prostheses use noninflatable shafts inserted into each corpus cavernosum, which appear hypointense on T1- and T2-weighted MR images...

INTRODUCTION: We aimed to summarize evidences about the efficacy of available treatments for erectile disfunction after robotic assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). EVIDENCE ACQUISITION: A systematic literature review searching on PubMed (Medline), Scopus, and Web of Science databases was performed in December 2019. PRISMA guidelines were followed. Population consisted of patients with erectile disfunction after RARP (P), conservative and surgical intervention were considered of interest (I)...

Our aim was to review the literature and discuss about penile curvature in order to have an update for management after 20 years experience in the field.Penile curvature may be congenital or acquired. Congenital penile curvature is a relatively uncommon condition that may present in late adolescent or early adult life. The incidence is estimated to be 0.6 %. On the other side, acquired penile curvature has an overall prevalence of 0.5-13%. Three main factors seem to increase the risk of developing an acquired penile curvature, often related to Peyronie's disease: penile traumatism, genetic and familiar conditions and a history of diseases of the genital tract...

AIM: In the management of the chronic complications caused by diabetes mellitus, an important role is played to andrological problematics, which require a specialistic evaluation combined in order to concretely contribute to the improvement of quality of life of such patients. The erectile disfunction in the diabetic patient notoriously correlates with the main cardiometabolics risk factors, and recently it has been pointed out how after chronic use of inhibitors of the phospodiesterase-enzyme-5 (PDE5-I) it is possible to improve the vascular response profile, evaluated through ecolor doppler (ECD) penile dynamic...

COMPARATIVE STUDY

There are three directions in pathogenetic treatment of chronic prostatitis (CP) which is conducted in parallel to etiotropic one (antimicrobial): general immunological; improving arterial inflow and venous outflow; creation of prostatic secretion outflow and that of seminal vesicles by means of contractions of the pelvic and perineal muscles, muscular fibers of the prostatic gland. The latter two directions can be managed with physiotherapy. It is proposed to use combination of drugs with physiotherapy conducted by means of the devices [see text]...

UNLABELLED: The fracture of the penis is an uncommon injury that is defined as a rupture of the tunica albuginea of the corpus cavernosum. We present our experience in 9 cases admitted to our department between 1989 and 1998. Most of the cases were caused by traumatism during sexual intercourse. Clinical presentation and physical examination were enough to make the diagnosis. The treatment was surgery in all cases, with evacuation of the hematoma and reconstruction of the rupture with absorbable suture...
