BACKGROUND: Stigmatization and discrimination within healthcare settings deter key populations (KPs) from seeking mental health and psychosocial support (MHPS). Consequently, understanding the prevalence, associated factors, and impact of the MHPSS intervention on psychological distress among Nigeria's KPs is crucial. METHOD: This is a cross-sectional study focused on KPs, including Female Sex Workers (FSW), Men who have Sex with Men (MSM), and People Who Inject Drugs (PWID) enrolled in Heartland Alliance LTD/GTE across 17 One-Stop Shops (OSS) in six states of Nigeria...

BACKGROUND: In the past few years, a burgeoning interest has emerged in applying gamification to promote desired health behaviors. However, little is known about the effectiveness of such applications in the HIV prevention and care continuum among men who have sex with men (MSM). OBJECTIVE: This study aims to summarize and evaluate research on the effectiveness of gamification on the HIV prevention and care continuum, including HIV-testing promotion; condomless anal sex (CAS) reduction; and uptake of and adherence to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), postexposure prophylaxis (PEP), and antiretroviral therapy (ART)...

BACKGROUND: Several systems of oppression combine in complex ways to impact the lives of minority populations. Following an intersectionality framework, we assessed the frequency and perceived reasons for discrimination among gay, bisexual, and other cisgender men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender and non-binary individuals (TGNB), stratified by race. METHODS: Online survey among MSM and TGNB ≥18 years living in Brazil, between November/2021 and January/2022...

BACKGROUND Primary hyperparathyroidism is one of the most common endocrine disorders, for which the definitive treatment is surgical parathyroidectomy. Generally, surgical exploration is performed as open focused neck surgery. The vestibular route is a new approach to minimally invasive endoscopic parathyroidectomy. This retrospective study from a single center in Turkey aimed to compare surgical outcomes from the transoral endoscopic vestibular approach (TOEPVA) vs direct open parathyroidectomy in 57 patients...

Little is known about the outcome for HIV-associated Hodgkin lymphoma (HIV-HL) as this is less common than HIV-negative lymphoma. Therefore, we performed a multi-center study to analyze the clinical characteristics and outcomes of HIV-HL patients in China. Nineteen cases of HIV-HL were diagnosed and treated at three center and including the sixth people's hospital of Zhengzhou, Peking union medical college hospital, and Chongqing university cancer hospital, between December 2013 and June 2022. Data on the clinical features, laboratory results, response, and prognosis were collected and analyzed...

Estimates of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) coverage in the U.S. military, defined as the proportion of the persons taking HIV PrEP out of the estimated number of persons who had indications for it, have never been published. The objective of this study was to provide an estimate of HIV PrEP coverage comparable to U.S. civilian estimates. The population with indications for HIV PrEP was obtained from the Department of Defense 2018 Health Related Behaviors Survey, a stratified random sample of members of all military service branches...

Ga2 O3 has emerged as a promising material for the wide-bandgap industry aiming at devices beyond the limits of conventional silicon. Amorphous Ga2 O3 is widely being used for flexible electronics, but suffers from very high resistivity. Conventional methods of doping like ion implantation require high temperatures post-processing, thereby limiting their use. Herein, an unconventional method of doping Ga2 O3 films with Si, thereby enhancing its electrical properties, is reported. Ion-beam sputtering (500 eV Ar+ ) is utilized to nanopattern SiO2 -coated Si substrate leaving the topmost part rich in elemental Si...

BACKGROUND The piriformis muscle is a flat superficial muscle of the deep gluteal muscles that externally rotates the hip. Ultrasound is widely used to identify the piriformis muscle, especially for guidance of the needle during injections; however, its diagnostic use has recently gained popularity. The operator-dependent nature of ultrasound requires demonstration of reliability between operators. This study aimed to evaluate interrater reliability of sonographic measurements of muscle thickness of 38 piriformis muscles in 19 patients with piriformis syndrome...

BACKGROUND Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), originally described as retrolental fibroplasia, represents an abnormal growth of blood vessels in the premature retina that can occur in response to oxygen therapy. The association between ROP and invasive mechanical ventilation has been widely studied in the literature; however, the relationships between different types of ventilation and ROP have not been as well documented. This study aimed to compare the association of ROP incidence with mechanical ventilation (MV), nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP), and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapies in 130 pre-term infants with gestational ages <32 weeks...

Magnetic Scanning Microscopy (MSM) emerged with the aim of allowing the visualization of magnetic fields of a sample or material through scanning and proved particularly useful for geology, biomedicine, characterization of magnetic materials, and in the steel industry. In this regard, the reading system of an MSM was modified using a μ-metal magnetic shielding structure to analyze remanent fields. The MSM was adapted to perform readings using two different types of sensors. The sensitive area of the sensors was evaluated, and the HQ-0811 (AKM-Asahi KaseiTM Microdevices) and STJ-010 (Micro MagneticsTM) sensors were chosen, with the HQ-0811 standardized on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) to facilitate handling and increase the system's robustness...

The worldwide monkeypox (mpox) outbreak in 2022 showed a high frequency of sexually transmitted infections (STI). A cross-sectional study was carried out using secondary data from the Brazilian official mpox surveillance systems. A total of 10,169 mpox cases were identified, with a median age of 32 years. Among them, 92.3% were male at birth and 57.5% were men who have sex with other men (MSM). Approximately 11% were diagnosed with STI, including 5.8% with syphilis and 2.5% with genital herpes. Individuals aged from 25 to 34 years, MSM, individuals with HIV-positive status, and those manifesting skin eruptions or penile edema were associated with STI...
