BACKGROUND: Placenta accreta spectrum is a serious condition associated with significant maternal morbidity and even mortality. The recommended treatment is hysterectomy. An alternative is one-step conservative surgery, which involves the en-bloc resection of the myometrium affected by placenta accreta spectrum alongwith the placenta, followed by uterine reconstruction. Currently, there are no studies comparing the two tecchniques in the setting of randomized controlled trial. OBJECTIVE: We performed a prospectively registered multi-center randomized controlled trial comparing hysterectomy with one-step conservative suergery...

It is often the definitive treatment for several pelvic pathologies like uterine myoma, utero-vaginal prolapsed, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, cervical malignancy and uncontrollable post partum haemorhage. The use of the hysterectomy in women sometimes without disease has led to the perception that some of the indications for hysterectomy are unjustified. The aim of this study is to determine the justification rate for the procedure in the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar...

AIM: Our aim was to research and evaluate very big clinical material for 22 years period (1987-2009) at the National Cancer Center, Gynaecological clinic and Medical University--Departement of Obstetrics and Gynaecology-Varna. We studied some of the most important prognostic factors in patients with endometrial cancer, radically operated with or without lymph node dissection. We compared our results with the results of other authors working in this field. Our aim was by examining the prognostic factors and the survival rate to define and help the choice of the most suitable radical surgical treatment, as well as the application of most suitable adjuvant therapy...
