INTRODUCTION: Root resorptions are, with white spots, some of the inconveniences caused by orthodontic treatments. Although they are rare, they should not be ignored despite the many benefits gained by orthodontic treatment. Contrary to white spots, which are controllable by good dental hygiene, root resorptions can occur despite patient cooperation. Orthodontists should be aware of this phenomenon and make regular radiologic controls a priority for detection "before, during and after" treatment...

The purpose of this study was to make a detailed evaluation of hard and soft tissue changes after Delaire orthopedic mask therapy (France-Orthodontie). The treatment group, which comprised 16 girls (mean age: 8.65 years, SD: 1.4 years) with skeletal Class III relationships caused by maxillary retrognathism, was compared with an untreated control group of 10 girls (mean age: 9.29 years, SD: 1.4 years). The following results were obtained: (1) After maxillary protraction, the maxilla was displaced anteriorly, whereas the mandible rotated posteriorly; (2) the maxillary incisors moved in the anterior direction, whereas the mandibular incisors moved posteriorly; (3) the mandibular plane angle and anterior lower and total face heights increased; (4) these changes were reflected in the profile, whereby the skeletal profile convexity increased and soft tissue facial angle and facial convexity decreased; and (5) the Class III concave profile became more balanced, with the upper lip area becoming more marked...

The basic principle consists in effects of superimposed optical grates. With the help of Shadow-Moiré-method a three-dimensional registration of dentofacial surfaces is possible. In Orthodonty diagnostical measuring and documentation of jaw patterns could be a special use of Moiré-Topography. The comparatively small technical expense is an advantage compared to other methods.

Dento-maxillary anomalies are the results of a deviation of growth processes, or of the development of the dento-maxillary apparatus. From the viewpoint of their frequencies the dento-maxillary anomalies hold the third place in the list of stomatological affections. The great variety of clinical manifestations of dento-maxillary anomalies has determined definition of therapeutical attitudes, in the frame of which therapy with orthodontal devices has an important place. This type of therapy exerts its effects also by implicating the parodontium, and this by at least two different mechanisms:-the induction of changes in the structures of the dento-maxillary apparatus by a direct parodontal mechanisms; as an element in the overall regulation of the growth of the dento-maxillary apparatus...

A 19-year-old man was first seen with a chief complaint of mandibular protrusion and TMJ pain. His records showed a class III malocclusion with excessive mandibular body length and poor facial profile. Treatment was done with a multibracket orthodontie appliance combined with a surgical mandibular back using a Obwegeser method. In this report, we appraised the changing rate of MKG and EMG in pre-treatment, post-surgery, and during the retention phase.

Following a discussion on the controversial opinions concerning the orthodontial treatment in adults, as well as on the fact that in many cases the orthodontial treatments in adults are much shorter than in children, the authors present data on eight cases reflecting the possibilities of orthodontial therapy in adults. The authors stress the necessity that the orthodontist should recognize the limitations of such therapy in adults, increasing in this way the possibilities for a successful therapy.
