PURPOSE: To investigate clinical, biochemical and radiological features in 35 patients with adrenal incidentaloma found on CT and/or MRI and to define the management of patients with adrenal masses. MATHERIAL AND METHODS: From January 2011 and May 2013, 35 patients (19F, 16M) with an adrenal mass incidentally discovered on CT and/or MRI were enrolled in a retrospective study. Thirthy-two patients underwent MDCT and eight 1.5 MRI. RESULTS: Patients consisted in 16 males and 19 females, aged between 25 and 89 yo...

We report on a 24-year-old male, with exercise-induced asthma and intermittent abdominal pain since puberty, who suffered from recurrent anaphylactic reactions. He also complained of occasional headaches. After extensive studies he was eventually diagnosed with idiopathic anaphylaxis, once the following diagnoses had been excluded: allergic origin [foods (including ω5-gliadin), latex and drugs], hydatidosis, carcinoid syndrome, systemic mastocytosis, autonomic epilepsy, hereditary angioedema, pheocromocitoma, Meckel diverticle, medullar thyroid carcinoma, leukemia, hyper-IgE and hypereosinophilic syndromes...

Kidney cancer is the tenth most common cause of cancer death. There are a growing number of genes known to be associated with an increased risk of specific types of kidney cancer. People with Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome have about a 40% risk of developing multiple bilateral clear cell kidney cancers. They can also develop retinal and brain hemangioblastoma, kidneys or pancreas cysts, pheochromocytoma and endolymphatic sac tumor. Four phenotypes with different renal cancer and pheocromocitoma risk have been described depending on the germline mutation...

OBJECTIVE: We present our 20 years experience treating patients with vena cava extension in whom an extracorporeal circulation, hypothermia, cardio circulatory arrest (ECC-H-CCA) in order to perform, together with a tumoral resection, a thrombus resection. MATERIAL AND METHODS: From 1985 to 2005 a total of 28 retroperitoneal tumor were treated: 25 renal cancers, a Wilms tumor, a paratesticular rabdomiosarcoma, and a pheocromocitoma. All of them had an extension by means of thrombus above the suprahepatics veins...

Computed tomographies (CT) of 32 patients with suspected adrenal disease and of 20 patients without evidence of adrenal disease performed with an 18 s scan time scanner, were reviewed. The results of a study of the normal adrenals in the coronal and sagittales planes, with the electronical reconstruction, are presented. Surgical proof was available in 11 patients. CT correctly identified 1 cortisol-producing adenoma, 1 aldosterone-producing adenoma, 4 pheocromocitomas and 2 carcinomas, but only 1 of the 3 hyperplasias...

Several haemodynamic and biochemical parameters were studied in order to explain the diagnostic value of the electrocardiographic abnormalities in partial myocardial diastolic depolarization, in different conditions, as experimental coronary oclussion, adrenalinic effects, tachycardia, hypoxia and shock. It is concluded that the electrocardiographic signs of diastolic depolarization (injury tissue) are: RS-T deplacement, conduction disturbances at bundle, fascicular and muscular levels, as well as ventricular ectopic beats...
