BACKGROUND: Vascular abnormalities, including dissections and aneurysms, can be found in patients with autosomal dominant kidney disease (ADPKD). While intracranial aneurysms have been reported in 10%-25% of ADPCKD, occurrences at other locations are exceedingly rare. METHOD: This is a first case report of a patient with ADPCKD who presented with a rupture of the left external carotid artery pseudoaneurysm. CONCLUSION: Rupture of a carotid artery aneurysm is rare with potentially high morbidity...

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease is a genetic disorder affecting 1 in 1000 people worldwide and is associated with an increased risk of intracranial aneurysms. It remains unclear whether there is sufficient net benefit to screening this patient population for IA, considering recent developments in imaging and treatment and our evolving understanding of the natural history of unruptured aneurysms. There is currently no standardized screening protocol for IA in patients with ADPCKD. Our review of the literature focused on the above issues and presents our appraisal of the estimated value of screening for IA in the setting of ADPCKD...

Aortic aneurysm is one several well-known cardiovascular complications in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPCKD). Commonly affected site of aortic aneurysm and its related dissection in ADPCKD is abdominal aorta. Long standing hypertension, haemodialysis, old age are closely related with discovering of aortic aneurysm and dissection in ADPCKD. However, thoracic aortic aneurysms and its related severe aortic regurgitations (ARs) are rare in younger patients suffering from ADPCKD, especially ones who have normal renal function...
