The galactosyltransferase, GalT-4, which catalyses the biosynthesis in vitro of neolactotetraosylceramide, nLcOse4Cer (Gal beta 1-4GlcNAc beta 1-3Gal beta 1-4Glc-Cer) from lactotriaosylceramide, LcOse3Cer (Glc NAc beta 1-3Gal beta 1-4Glc-Cer), and UDP-galactose has been purified 107 500-fold from a mineral oil induced mouse T-lyphoma P-1798, using affinity columns. The purified enzyme is partially stabilized in the presence of phospholipid liposomes. Two closely migrating protein bands of apparent molecular weights 56 kDa and 63 kDa were observed after sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of highly purified mouse GalT-4...

We present the first case of Lennert's Lymphoma in which cytophotometric determinations for DNA contents are undertaken. DNA Histograms of lymphoid cells, Immunoblasts, and epitheloid cells are evaluated for their euploid or aneuploid DNA contents. The aneuploid DNA stem line pattern found in the case under discussion testifies to the malignant nature of Lennert's Lyphoma.

Ninety patients with Stage I or II, including extranodal (E), presentations of non-Hodkin's lymphoma were investigated by laparotomy, either for the definitive staging of patients with peripheral presentations or for diagnosis of abdominal disease. Sixty-eight patients had staging laparotomies after extensive work-up, which included lymphangiography and bone marrow biopsy. The remaining 22 patients had laparotomies for diagnosis of abdominal symptoms or for management of unrelated surgical problems, with lyphoma being found incidentally...

A 65-year-old man with acute lymphoblastic leukemia of B-cell origin is described. The patient had many distinctive features including a very high blast cell count, hepatomegaly, hemorrhagic diathesis and a fulminant clinical course. Immunological studies showed the blast cells to have surface characteristics of B-lymphoid cells (IgG kappa). These cells had moderate amounts of deeply basophilic cytoplasm without granules. Most cells contained empty cytoplasmic vacuoles (L3 according to the FBA classification)...

Transversal emission computerised axial tomography (ECAT) was performed in addition to bioptic examination in 113 patients with solid tumours and lyphomas. In 69/113 (61%) patients the results of conventional scintigraphy and ECAT were in agreement. In 44/113 (39%) patients additional information was obtained. Correct positive and correct negative results were found in 86.3% (63.6% and 22.7%, respectively), while in 13.6% the results were false positive or false negative (6.8% both).
