Non-Hodkin's lymphoma (NHL) is the most frequent hematologic malignancy in humans and dogs. NKG2D is one of the most critical receptors on NK cells, recognizing their natural ligands on malignant cells such as A and B major histocompatibility complex-related proteins (MIC-A and MIC-B). Soluble molecules (sMIC-A and sMIC-B) can interfere with immune synapsis between NK cells and tumor cells, impeding NK cytotoxicity. The main objectives of this study were to analyze, in dogs with diffuse large B cell lymphoma, NK cell lymphoma, and reactive lymphadenopathies, the role of NK cells, their activating receptors NKG2D and NKp46, and their ligands MIC-A and MIC-B, as well as soluble molecules sMIC-A and sMIC-B...

Introduction: Current combined intensive chemotherapy and radiation regimens yield excellent survival rates in advanced classic Hodgkin's lymphoma (cHL). However, acute toxicity in elderly, comorbid patients can be challenging and long-term survival in refractory patients remains poor. Patients and Methods: We report on six patients with r/r HL, three patients with long-term follow-up, three newly treated, after biomodulatory therapy. All patients received MEPED (treosulfan 250 mg p.o. daily, everolimus 15 mg p...

Some patients with B-cell non-Hodkin lymphoma Lymphoma (NHL) become refractory to rituximab (anti-CD20 antibody) therapy associated with chemotherapy. Here, the effect of the anti-CD37 antibody-radionuclide conjugate lutetium-177 (177 Lu)-lilotomab (Betalutin® ) was investigated in preclinical models of NHL. In SCID mice bearing DOHH2 (transformed follicular lymphoma, FL) cell xenografts, 177 Lu-lilotomab significantly delayed tumor growth, even at low activity (100 MBq/kg). In athymic mice bearing OCI-Ly8 (diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, DLBCL) or Ramos (Burkitt's lymphoma) cell xenografts, 177 Lu-lilotomab activity had to be increased to 500 MBq/kg to show a significant tumor growth delay...

High-dose chemotherapy (HDT) followed by autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT) is widely used in patients with malignant lymphomas. In Europe over 8,000 ASCTs for lymphoma were performed out of a total of 40,000 transplants according to the European Bone Marrow Transplant (EBMT) activity survey in 2017. ASCT is considered the standard treatment for eligible patients failing to achieve remission after first line chemotherapy or patients with relapsed or refractory lymphomas, including classical Hodkin's lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma, and follicular lymphoma, as well as consolidation therapy in first remission in mantle cell lymphoma...

Hodgkin lymphoma is a highly curable malignancy involving lymph nodes and the lymphatic system. Even at late stage disease, about 70% of patients will be cured with standard first line therapy. For patients who experience relapse or refractory classical Hodgkin lymphoma, the standard treatment option is high-dose chemotherapy followed by autologous stem cell rescue or transplant. However about 50% of patients will have recurrence after high-dose chemotherapy followed by autologous stem cell rescue or transplantation and have worse prognosis with median overall survival of 32% at 5 years...

Despite recent advances in combined anti- retroviral therapy that have profoundly changed the prognosis of HIV infection, HIV-associated haematological complications remains frequent whatever the stage of the disease. Some types of lymphoma observed a dramatic reduction in their incidences but others such as diffuse B-cell lymphoma and Hodkin lymphoma remain as frequent as before the CART era. Treatments for lymphoma are nowadays not different for people living with HIV than for others. Other non- neoplastic diseases such as immune thrombo- penic purpura, thrombotic microangiopathies and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis are still associated with HIV infection and will be discussed...

Primary extranodal sites of development of lymphoid neoplasms are rare and concern about 5% of patients with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Extranodal development is more common in non Hodgkin's lymphoma and may reach 33%. A 27-year-old woman was diagnosed by a cardiologist for a short breath. On the physical examination no other abnormalities were observed. Echocardiography, performed by cardiologist, revealed a large tumor, overlaying the right ventricle and compressing the pulmonary trunk. Chest X-ray, ultrasound and CT-scan confirmed diagnosis...

An abnormally elevated rate of Hodgkin's lymphoma was reported in 2001 among Italian soldiers in Bosnia and Kosovo since 1995: a surveillance system was therefore set up for the military community. Preliminary results for a longer period (1996-2007) have shown incidence rates lower than expected for all malignancies. No significant difference was registered between observed and expected cases of Hodkin's lymphoma: the excess of reported cases for this malignancy in 2001-2002 was probably due to a peak occurred in 2000 among the whole military; it is therefore unrelated to deployment in the Balkans, and probably represents a chance event...

PURPOSE: Non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHL) have a high radio- and chemosensitivity. Although initially responsive, approximately 50% of low grade B-cell lymphomas relapse after 10-15 years. Besides chemo- and radiotherapy, rituximab, a mouse/human chimeric antibody targeting CD20 antigen on the surface of B-cell lymphoma cells, is another treatment approach. In vitro data showed potentiation of radiation-induced apoptosis by addition of rituximab. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and toxicity of radiotherapy with concomitant application of rituximab in NHL patients...

BACKGROUND: The increasing availability of different monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) opens the way to more specific biologic therapy of cancer patients. However, despite the significant success of therapy in breast and ovarian carcinomas with anti-HER2 mAbs as well as in non-Hodkin B cell lymphomas with anti-CD20 mAbs, certain B cell malignancies such as B chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (B-CLL) respond poorly to anti-CD20 mAb, due to the low surface expression of this molecule. Thus, new mAbs adapted to each types of tumour will help to develop personalised mAb treatment...

A cohort of 41,721 Sami identified in official national registers between 1960 and 1997, was divided into two sub-populations -- reindeer herding Sami (RS) and non-reindeer herding Sami (NRS). It was classified into extranodal non-Hodkin's lymphomas of B-cell lymphocytes of the marginal zone of reactive lymphe follicles. It is characterized by both hyperplasia and colonization of plasmocytic, centrocytoid and monocytoid cells, by the infiltration of interfollicular and parafollicular parts of interstitium, as well as by the invasion of clusters of neoplastic lymphoid cells of the glandular epithelium, forming the pathognomic lymphoepithelial MALT limphoma lesions...

Acquired immune deficiency syndrome increases the risk of developing non-Hodgkin's B-cell lymphoma (NHL) (relative risk over 100). NHL tend to be high-grade and to affect the central nervous system and digestive tract. Biliary tract compression is usually due to external compression from enlarged lymph nodes, but is not usually the first manifestation. We describe 2 cases of bile duct obstruction secondary to NHL in patients diagnosed with HIV infection. Histological diagnosis of the lymphoma can be difficult but is necessary so that these patients do not undergo highly aggressive surgical treatment instead of chemotherapy, which currently produces the best results...
