BACKGROUND: Job burnout has become a rampant epidemic in working societies, causing high productivity loss and healthcare costs. An easy accessible tool to detect clinically relevant risk may bear the potential to timely avert the dire sequelae of burnout. As a start, we performed a proof of concept study to test the utilization of a mobile health web application for a free and anonymous burnout risk assessment with established questionnaires. METHODS: We designed a client-side javascript web application for users who filled out demographic and psychometric data forms over the internet...

Metabolomics represents an emerging and powerful discipline that provides an accurate and dynamic picture of the phenotype of biosystems through the study of potential metabolites that could be used for therapeutic targets and discovery of new drugs. Metabolomic network construction has led to the integration of metabolites associated with the caused perturbation of multiple pathways. Herein, we present a method for the construction of efficient networks with regard to that Jujuboside B (JuB) protects against insomnia as a case study...

COMPARATIVE STUDY
W T Brown
A controlled study designed to evaluate the hypnotic potentiality of methyprylon (300 mg.), glutethimide (500 mg.) and chloral hydrate (1000 mg.) was carried out on 50 in-patients experiencing long-standing insomina. The patients ranged in age from 21 to 60 years, the sexes were equally represented and the clinical diagnoses were psychoneurosis, reactive depression, or anxiety reaction. An interesting feature of the experimental design allowed for the exclusion of placebo reactors before the initiation of the main trials...

In a field study comprising 678 patients with arterial hypertension efficacy and tolerance of the stable combination VKB 105 consisting of 10 mg Pindolol (Visken) and 5 mg Clopamid (Brinaldix) were investigated. Treatment with 1--2 tablets of VKB per day resulted in a successful therapy in 94% of all patients corresponding on the average to a reduction in blood pressure to 145/85 mm Hg within 14 days. In mean arterial pressures ranging between 120 and 170 mm Hg a positive linear relationship between the individual initial value and the hypotensive effect of the combination could be observed...
