BACKGROUND Thyroid cancer is a very common endocrine malignancy, with a rate of total thyroidectomy reported to be up to 27.8%. However, studies analyzing the risk factors that contribute to recurrence of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) after total thyroidectomy in China are still scarce. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 536 patients with PTC who underwent total thyroidectomy were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into 2 groups: patients with no recurrent tumor were included in group 1 and patients with tumor recurrence were included in group 2...

The explants cells of Nicotiana Tobacum undergo the process of dedifferentiation and redifferentiation under the treatment of phytohormone with different contentrations. By monitoring the change of plastids and the expression of FtsZ protein, which functions in the progress of chloroplast division, we show that chloroplasts turn into amyloid and hypostasis when explants dedifferent and at the same time the expression of FtsZ proteins decreases. When explants redifferent and bud, hypostasis turn back into the chloroplast and the expression of FtsZ protein restores...

Dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma (DDCS) comprises approximately 10% of all chondrosarcomas and has the worst outcome with 5-year survival of 10%. The preferred localizations are femur, humerus and pelvis. We report a case of DDCS that arose in proximal phalanx of left-hand thumb of a 66-year-old man. He was admitted with a 2-month history of pain and swelling in his thumb. He had experienced a fracture 15 years ago in the same localization with a history of suspected preexisting enchondroma. Plain radiographs showed an expansive osteolytic lesion with milimetric calcifications while magnetic resonance imaging revealed intraosseous focal globular hyperintense spots consistent with chondroid areas as well as a surrounding soft tissue mass with intermediate signal intensity...
