Brazil's main goal is zero deforestation and degradation (ZDD) in the Amazon. Existing policies do not consider the region's heterogeneity. Integrated sectoral policies are necessary for consolidating sustainable subregional territories. To protect the world's largest tropical forest while improving local people's lives, government agencies must overcome funding shortfalls and gaps in coordination.

Glanders is a highly infectious and notifiable disease of equines that occurs due to Burkholderia mallei . In India, glanders re-emerged in 2006 and thereafter regular outbreaks have been reported in various states ( n  = 14). Frequent and prolonged contact with equids with glanders may transmit B. mallei infection to humans. This study was designed to learn more about the Knowledge, Awareness and Perception (KAP) of veterinarians, para veterinarians, and physicians about equine glanders, which will help in enhancing the nation-wide glanders eradication programme...

BACKGROUND: Crises and health policies to tackle them can increase health inequalities. We explored the scope and usefulness of helplines set up during the COVID-19 crisis and characterised the vulnerability of their users. This study explored the geographic and socioeconomic effects of the telephone helplines set up by the Balearic Islands Government and aimed to characterise the vulnerability of their users. METHODS: Telephonic survey combined with a geographical analysis of a sample of calls made between 15th of March and 30th of June of 2020 to five helplines: COVID-19 general information; psychological, social (minimum vital income), labour (temporary employment regulation), and housing (rental assistance) helps...

Purpose: The Canadian federal government has expressed an intention to work with provinces and territories to develop a national school food program (SFP). This study aimed to explore caregivers' perception of attributes important to include in a future SFP. Methods: An online cross-sectional survey was conducted. Fifteen elementary schools from high, medium, or low median income neighbourhoods in Saskatoon were invited to participate. School principals sent a survey link to students' caregivers. The 37-item survey included an item with 15 statements asking caregivers to rate the importance of various components of a SFP...

Determining priority areas for territorial ecological restoration in the arid region of Northwest China based on the holistic protection and systematic governance is an important measure to build solid national ecological security barrier and promote the construction of territorial ecological civilization. Taking Zhangye City, a typical arid area city in Northwest China, as an example, we constructed the research framework of "ecological network-ecological sensitivities-ecological degradation" from two aspects of internal defects and external threats of ecological networks by using circuit theory and assessment methods of ecological service function importance, ecological sensitivity, and ecological degradation...

Territorial space conflicts (TSCs) in coastal zones stem from the intricate interaction between the land-sea dual system, significantly impacting the sustainable development of these areas. To accurately identify TSCs, our study proposed a theoretical framework based on a land-sea interaction perspective. We also assessed TSCs using the territorial space conflicts index and a social network analysis model. We demonstrated the proposed spatial conflicts assessment methodology through a case study of Wenzhou, a typical city on the east coast of China...

In recent years health systems have engaged patient partners in decision-making. Provincial and Territorial Medical Associations (PTMAs) are the sole bargaining agents for physicians. PTMA negotiations with governments are often seen as insular. Adding the patient perspective could add tremendous value to negotiating committees, etc. as PTMAs look to advocate for person-centered care provided by their members. Using rapid scoping review methodology, PubMed was searched for studies reporting on the use of patient partners in PTMA decision-making...

This article presents the results of a study on health professionals' perceptions of childhood vaccine hesitancy related to COVID-19. Based on the theoretical construct of vaccine hesitancy, a qualitative study was conducted with 86 primary health care (PHC) workers in four municipalities in four Brazilian states and in the Federal District. A thematic analysis was performed and three categories were obtained: fear, misinformation about vaccines, and the role of health professionals. Fear as a reason for vaccine hesitancy has led to reflections on the Brazilian Federal Government's management of the pandemic, especially regarding governability and the consequences of the use of digital platforms on the population...

Myofibres serve as the functional unit for locomotion, with the sarcomere as fundamental subunit. Running the entire length of this structure are hundreds of myonuclei, located at the periphery of the myofibre, juxtaposed to the plasma membrane. Myonuclear specialisation and clustering at the centre and ends of the fibre are known to be essential for muscle contraction, yet the molecular basis of this regionalisation has remained unclear. While the 'myonuclear domain hypothesis' helped explain how myonuclei can independently govern large cytoplasmic territories, novel technologies have provided granularity on the diverse transcriptional programs running simultaneously within the syncytia and added a new perspective on how myonuclei communicate...

Integrated Place-Based Primary Interventions (IPPIs) are considered an innovative response to the challenges and complex issues faced in disadvantaged areas where traditional institutional services have difficulty reaching people in vulnerable situations. IPPIs are an innovative approach to the delivery of in services, conceived as an original community-based local care and service pathways. However, these intervention practices require adaptive modes of governance. In this article, we explore how and to what extent the mode of governance of IPPIs influences the performance of community-integrated pathways...

BACKGROUND: The burden of chronic conditions is growing in Australia with people in remote areas experiencing high rates of disease, especially kidney disease. Health care in remote areas of the Northern Territory (NT) is complicated by a mobile population, high staff turnover, poor communication between health services and complex comorbid health conditions requiring multidisciplinary care. Many hospitals and health care organizations over the centuries have inherited handcrafts of artistic value, objects of worships, donations from pilgrims, votive offerings, legates as a result of their centuries-old activity in the social and health care of their community. The value of these artistic assets and the role in the territory of these hospitals have transformed them into cultural heritage over time, introducing the issue of the coexistence of cultural and care management. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to identify governance models of what we will call historical hospitals, that is, hospitals that because of their history, their assets, and their artistic heritage, far from being places only dedicated to provision of health care services represent cultural heritage...

Indigenous nations exercise these rights through data ownership policies established in response to unethical research practices in research involving Indigenous communities. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Northern Territory (NT).
