BACKGROUND: Acute myocardial infarction is the myocardial necrosis caused by acute and persistent ischemia and hypoxia of coronary arteries. It can be complicated with arrhythmia, shock or heart failure, and often can endanger life. The disease is most common in Europe and the United States, where about 1.5 million heart attacks occur each year. China has shown a clear upward trend in recent years, with at least 500 000 new cases and at least 2 million new cases every year. Cardiac rehabilitation nursing is a kind of comprehensive nursing that aims to restore the body function of patients with myocardial infarction...

PURPOSE: This study was guided by three research aims: firstly, to examine the longitudinal trends of health-related quality of life (HR-QoL) among gender and sexuality diverse (LGBTQA2S+) young people through adolescence (ages 14-19); secondly, to assess longitudinal associations between poor mental health and HR-QoL among LGBTQA2S+ young people through adolescence; and thirdly, to examine differences in HR-QoL among LGBTQA2S+ young people during early adolescence (ages 14 and 15) depending on select school-, peer-, and parent-level factors...

Extensive research exists on the association between self-reported emotional eating (EE) and disordered eating (DE) behaviors. Heterogeneity exists by type (e.g., unidimensional vs. multidimensional) and valence (e.g., negative vs. positive) of self-reported EE, and no previous meta-analyses have examined the association between self-reported EE and DE behaviors. A total of 67 studies (N = 26,289; 43 reporting relations across one model, and 24 reporting relations across more than one model) met inclusion criteria; ranges for age and publication date were 18...

As global aging becomes more prominent, neurocognitive disorders (NCD) incidence has increased. Patients with NCD usually have an impairment in one or more cognitive domains, such as attention, planning, inhibition, learning, memory, language, visual perception, and spatial or social skills. Studies indicate that 50-80% of these adults will develop neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS), such as apathy, depression, anxiety, disinhibition, delusions, hallucinations, and aberrant motor behavior. The progression of NCD and subsequent NPS requires tremendous care from trained medical professionals and family members...

More than 60% of suicides globally are estimated to take place in low- and middle-income nations. Prior research on suicide has indicated that over 50% of those who die by suicide do so on their first attempt. Nevertheless, there is a dearth of knowledge on the attributes of individuals who die on their first attempt and the factors that can predict mortality on the first attempt in these regions. The objective of this study was to create an individual-level risk-prediction model for mortality on the first suicide attempt...

MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was conducted among 500 subjects aged ≥60 years where dental condition, number of missing teeth, removable denture wearing, teeth mobility, periodontal condition, pocket depth, loss of attachment, and depression according to the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 scale were assessed...

Background: Although the prevalence of depression has increased significantly in recent years, especially in the young adult population, little is known about its causes and risk factors. The study aims to examine the mediating role of TikTok use in the relationships between procrastination and depression in young adults. Methods: A sample of 448 adults, ranging in age from 18 to 35 years (M = 24.45, SD = 3.76), including 214 men (48%), participated in the study. The cross-sectional survey consists of a modified Bergen Facebook Addiction Scale (BFAS) to assess problematic TikTok use (PTTU), the Pure Procrastination Scale (PPS) for procrastination measurement, and the nine-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) for screening depression symptoms...

INTRODUCTION: The course of depressive symptoms and dementia risk is unclear, as are potential structural neuropathological common causes. METHODS: Utilizing joint latent class mixture models, we identified longitudinal trajectories of annually assessed depressive symptoms and dementia risk over 21 years in 957 older women (baseline age 72.7 years old) from the Women's Health Initiative Memory Study. In a subsample of 569 women who underwent structural magnetic resonance imaging, we examined whether estimates of cerebrovascular disease and Alzheimer's disease (AD)-related neurodegeneration were associated with identified trajectories...

Disrupted sleep is commonly reported during hematopoietic stem cell transplant. In this study, we use actigraphy to measure sleep parameters, and qualitative measures of quality of life, depression, and sleep in pediatric and young adult transplant recipients to describe their time course through transplant. Eight patients had evaluable actigraphy data, and ten patients completed the surveys. The median age of the six male and seven female participants was 13.94 years old. Sleep duration and efficiency measured by actigraphy were suboptimal prior to transplant, then declined to a nadir between Day +7- +14...

Anxiety and depressive difficulties can emerge during early childhood and cause impairment in functioning. Anxiety and depressive behaviors and impairment are typically assessed with global questionnaires that require recall of children's behavior over an extended period which could reduce the accuracy of parent report of children's behavior and functioning. The current study compared parents' report of children's anxiety and depressive behaviors and impairment when evaluated with global measures versus a daily diary measure...

OBJECTIVES: The prevalences of hypertension and depression in sub-Saharan Africa are substantial and rising, despite limited data on their sociodemographic and behavioral risk factors and their interactions. We undertook a cross-sectional study in 4 communities in the Upper East Region of Ghana to identify persons with hypertension and depression in the setting of a pilot intervention training local nurses and health volunteers to manage these conditions. METHODS: We quantified hypertension and depression prevalence across key sociodemographic factors (age, sex, occupation, education, religion, ethnicity, and community) and behavioral factors (tobacco use, alcohol use, and physical activity) and tested for association by multivariable logistic regression...

BACKGROUND: Old age is a period of life that presents many health and social challenges, resulting in a greater vulnerability to the development of mental disorders, including depression. There has been a growing interest in the relationship between depression and inflammatory factors, because of its potential clinical and therapeutic implications. Inflammatory processes, which were originally understood as a response to infection and trauma, appear to play an important role in the pathogenesis of depression in the elderly...

GD mainly occurs among adolescents, who, after developing addiction, show psychopathological traits, such as social anxiety, depression, social isolation, and attention deficit.
