Although myopericytoma and glomangiopericytoma are considered the subtypes of the group myopericytomas (MPC), they differ morphologically. Both of the tumors arise from pericytic cells. Scalp MPC are infrequent, but extranasal glomangiopericytomas are extremely rare. Herein, we report a case of a 36-year-old female presenting with slowly growing scalp swelling. Histopathology showed a dermal tumor with features of myopericytoma as well as glomangiopericytoma within the same lesion. Immunohistochemistry and reticulin staining confirmed pericytic origin but could not differentiate between the two tumors...

INTRODUCTION: The most widespread female malignancy is breast cancer (BC), considerable percentage of patients with triple-negative BC (TNBC) experience rapid progression, recurrence, and metastasis. BC has not historically been treated as an immunogenic cancer. Nonetheless, several researchers have started to concentrate on immunotherapy. AIM: The aim of the study is to investigate the immunohistochemical (IHC) expression of programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) by stromal tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and tumor cells (TC) in female (TNBC) and to correlate with pathological features of such tumors, particularly those determine biologic behavior, such as the grade and stage the overall survival...

BACKGROUND: Tamoxifen is a drug that has been used extensively as a chemotherapeutic agent for breast cancer. It should be taken for a long period, from few weeks up to many years, so it can induce gynecological and nongynecological complications. AIM: Present study was conducted to clarify the histopathological effects of tamoxifen intake on the ovarian follicles of rats and evaluate the promising recovery after drug withdrawal. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Adult female albino rats ( n = 24) were randomly divided into four groups...

BACKGROUND: One of the most challenging diagnostic categories in the sinonasal tract includes small-blue-round-cell tumors. These are malignant tumors which show many overlapping histomorphology and immunohistochemistry (IHC) findings. Limited, small biopsy of these not completely excisable tumors adds to the diagnostic confusion. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional study was done for 2 years (January 2018-December 2020) in a tertiary care institute, which included 70 cases of tumors of which 49 cases were malignant...

BACKGROUND: Keratoconus (KC) is degenerative corneal disorder, with central and paracentral thinning and corneal ectasia. For KC progressive cases, primary treatment included corneal collagen cross linking (CXL) to stabilize coning and intracorneal rings segment (ICRS) to correct visual acuity. AIM: The aim of the study is to assess efficacy and safety of ICRS and CXL on one session (Simultaneous) or two sessions (sequential) with maximum of 1 month apart. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This Prospective Intervention Comparative research made at Armed forces hospital, Cairo, Egypt from January 2017 to December 2019...

Simple unicystic CCOT is commonly encountered accounts for 65%, whereas other forms of CCOT are <3%. CCOT is associated with two or more odontogenic tumors, it is called combined odontogenic lesions or hybrid lesions. The aim of the present article is to report a rare case of CCOT and highlighting the clinical feature and treatment aspects of combined lesions. Concomitant Hodgkin's lymphoma with tuberculosis is an exceedingly rare clinical scenario and a condition that is difficult to manage due to similar clinical presentation. This case report describes the same in a 44-year-old male patient diagnosed with Koch's and initiated on antituberculosis therapy, based on confirmation of findings from the spine biopsy and culture. The patient's clinical condition worsened despite being on treatment for tuberculosis. Hence, further work up of the patient was done which included mediastinoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound...

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental illness that leads to repetitive behavior and debilitates social communication. Genetic changes such as susceptible genes and environmental factors promote ASD pathogenesis. Mutations in neuroligins ( NLGNs ) and neurexin ( NRXNs ) complex which encode cell adhesion molecules have a significant part in synapses formation, transcription, and excitatory-inhibitory balance. The ASD pathogenesis could partly, at the least, be related to synaptic dysfunction...

Radiation-induced sarcoma is an exceedingly rare entity associated with high morbidity and mortality even if radiation is received several years prior. Aggressive cancer surveillance following radiotherapy is essential for improving survival rates in patients with radiation-induced sarcoma. Surgical resection with negative margins is the most important factor affecting long-term survival. This case report describes secondary osteosarcoma of the distal third of the femur in a 32-year-old female following previous radiotherapy treatment for Ewing's sarcoma...

CONTEXT: Tumor microenvironment is emerging as a critical factor for progression of breast cancer. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) play an important role in promoting tumor growth. AIM: This study was aimed at correlation of number density (ND) of TAMs with invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) grading utilizing an image morphometric technique. We also sought to compare the TAMs and ND in the tumoral area and stromal region. We also explored the relationship between the clinical and pathological prognostic parameters...

BACKGROUND: Fungal rhinosinusitis (FRS) cases are not exiguous for the world. However, their spike as a postCOVID sequelae has alarmed the world, especially India. Adding to the woes is the high mortality rate and poor prognosis associated with acute invasive fungal rhinosinusitis (AIFR) in such immunocompromised patients. In such a scenario, early and precise diagnosis of AIFR is what a patient and physician banks upon. KOH and histopathology are the two frontline investigations for the diagnosis of FRS...

CONTEXT: Liver diseases are major causes of morbidity and mortality. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and antifibrotic effects, so they can be used in the treatment of liver diseases. MSCs co-cultured with diseased liver tissue improve the homing capacity, survival rate, and paracrine effects of the MSCs, as well as the ability to enhance liver function. AIMS: This work aimed to study the therapeutic effect of MSCs versus MSCs co-cultured with liver tissue on carbon tetrachloride (CCl4 )-induced hepatotoxicity in adult male albino rats...

Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common benign salivary tumor involving the parotid gland. However, malignant transformation to carcinoma expleomorphic adenoma (CXPA) is an exceedingly rare occurrence. Malignant patterns reported with pleomorphic adenoma include CXPA, metastasizing pleomorphic adenoma, and carcinosarcoma. Firm mass in the parotid gland is the most common presentation of CXPA. Imaging appearances of CXPA are variable, and the proportion of carcinoma and adenoma components determine the appearance of the lesion on gross pathology...

INTRODUCTION: Gastrointestinal (GIT) mucositis is a common problem associated with chemotherapy. Dacomitinib is a chemotherapeutic drug that treats nonsmall cell lung cancer. It irreversibly binds to the receptors at the ileal epithelial cells, leading to mucosal injury. Baicalin (BA) is a flavonoid with anti-inflammatory, antifibrosis, and antibarrier disruption properties.
