In the early 2000s, medical devices based on acellular matrices multiplied in number. Nowadays, the use of porcine ADMs is to be considered a well-established technology, commonly applied in different surgical specialties. In this retrospective analysis of 110 cases, the use of non-crosslinked porcine ADM EGIS® results a safe and effective tool in many procedures and specialties.

Calciphylaxis is characterized by extremely painful skin ulcers and develops in patients with or without severe kidney diseases. Herein, a female patient without renal dysfunction developed calciphylaxis in the right lower extremity and underwent successful surgical debridement and split-thickness skin grafting. Nevertheless, prompt wound evaluation and proper surgical approaches are essential.

Miro Bilić, Josip Jaman, Božo Gorjanc, Rado Žic
Liposarcomas are rare, malignant tumors of adipocyte differentiation. Surgery is the main treatment method. We are reporting a rare case of a 65- year- old female patient with a massive dedifferentiated thigh liposarcoma that was growing for 10 years and spread to the retroperitoneum.

We report the case of a forest ranger who developed a polymicrobial infection with Mucor circinelloides after traumatic forearm amputation. Based on our case report we discuss epidemiology and management of this rare and potentially fatal infection.

Felipe Mesa, Marly Camargo, Linda Carvajal, Ricardo Bravo
Hemangioendothelioma is a malignant vascular tumor, according to ISSVA classification of vascular tumors. This patient presented an epithelioid hemangioendothelioma; this type of tumor can exhibit significant local destruction, sometimes requiring limb amputation. With deferred Mohs micrographic surgery and reconstructive surgery with multiple conventional and microsurgical techniques, partial or total amputation of the hand was avoided.

The correct reconstructive technique following dermoid cyst removal is critical for treatment and aesthetics. This article will discuss the management of nasal dermoid sinus cysts. A mixture of "Turkish-delight" crushed cartilage with Fibrin-based tissue adhesives and non-crushed septal cartilage was used for the primary reconstruction of the nasal dorsum.

Pierre-Antoine Debordes, Ceyran Hamoudi, Antonio Di Marco
We report the case of a HIV-seronegative 57 year-old man, with known classic Kaposi's disease and in whom a secondary localization in the upper left limb led to carpal and metacarpal lysis in the left hand. This unfavorable local evolution led to left transhumeral amputation.

Schwannoma can rarely mimic an intraneural ganglion cyst clinically and radiographically. This is a rare case report of a wrist schwannoma mimicking an intraneural ganglion cyst. The surgery was successful, and the histopathological report confirmed the diagnosis of benign schwannoma. After two years of follow-up, the patient is still symptom-free.

Free tissue flap transfer can be utilized for reconstruction following tumor resection. While flap failure occurs primarily within 72 h post-operation, late failure after day 7 is rare. We present the case of a 14-year-old with a late lower extremity free flap vascular compromise, along with the successful flap salvage.

Masakatsu Hihara, Yuuki Kouchi, Tsugumi Takao, Maako Fujita, Natsuko Kakudo
The right nasal ala had been destroyed and was diagnosed as morpheaform basal cell carcinoma associated with multiple familial trichoepithelioma (Brooke-Spiegler syndrome). After extended resection, the right buccal and nasal ala defect was reconstructed with a flow-through type anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap, which achieved good functional and cosmetic results.

Kerry A Morrison, Roberto L Flores
A 3-year-old patient sustained a tripartite mandibular fracture, including bilateral condylar fractures with lateral dislocation of the left condyle and symphyseal fracture. Staged lower jaw reconstruction with closed reduction of the laterally dislocated condyle, transfacial pinning between the mandibular angles, MMF using circummandibular wiring and intermaxillary fixation screws was performed.

We discuss the case of a 42-year-old woman who presented with severe left cubital tunnel neuropathic pain and subsequently developed a vesicular rash spanning the C8-T1 dermatomal distribution. These symptoms resolved after initiation of acyclovir, highlighting VZV brachial plexopathy as a potentially treatable etiology of acute onset severe neuropathic pain.

Traumatic aneurysms occurring in the digit are extremely rare. We report a case of a traumatic pseudoaneurysm arising from a terminal branch of the finger artery and presenting as a mixed lesion with pyogenic granuloma that was exposed to the outside of the body and treated surgically.

We report a 60-year-old patient who underwent bilateral mastectomy at different times, followed by immediate autologous reconstruction with different flaps: deep-inferior epigastric-perforator flap on one breast, and fat-augmented latissimus dorsi on the contralateral side. At 20-month follow-up, good symmetry was recorded; patient-reported outcome measurements revealed high satisfaction scores.

Siyou Song, Esther A Kim
Most patients undergo just one type of gender-affirming top surgery, but some will have a double-incision mastectomy after reduction mammaplasty. We describe a 46-year-old transgender man who requested a flatter chest after undergoing reduction mammoplasty the previous year. We also provide three considerations to guide surgical decision-making in this situation.

We report granuloma formation after using FiberWire® for flexor tendon repairs. Four subcutaneous granulomas were identified in 115 patients with FiberWire® core sutures, none in 426 with braided polyester. Foreign body reactions were found in the granuloma cases. We suggest early suture removal if this specific complication is encountered.

We performed reverse sural artery flap (RSAF) with the stepwise delay method, cutting the vascular pedicle step by step, as the patient had a high risk of flap necrosis. Surgical delay in RSAF is anticipated to prevent not only flap cyanosis but also flap congestion.

This study evaluated what patients consider in choosing a surgeon. A survey was given to 303 patients. Most found their hand surgeon through a medical or family/friend referral ( p  < .05). Surgeon credentials and accepted insurance were statistically more likely to be rated first ( p <.001). We recommend educating referring physicians about our practices.

Pregnancy post abdominoplasty may ruin the aesthetic result of the operation and may harm both mother and child. This report is about a 39-year-old lady who got pregnant a month after her abdominoplasty. Her pregnancy was uneventful, and she delivered a healthy baby at the gestational age of 38 weeks.
