We report a rare case of large immature retroperitoneal teratoma in a neonate. The diagnostic and therapeutic challenges of dealing with such a case have been discussed and the relevant literature reviewed.

Anterior urethral valves (AUVs) is an unusual cause of congenital obstruction of the male urethra, being 15-30 times less common than posterior urethral valves. We present a case of AUV diagnosed at 24th gestational week. Ultrasonography and fetal MRI revealed hydronephrotic kidneys with ureteral duplicity, a distended bladder and perineal cystic mass which confirmed dilated anterior urethra in a male fetus. Diagnosis was confirmed postnatally by voiding cystourethrogram and surgery.

Intrathoracic gastric volvulus in neonatal period is a life-threatening surgical emergency. We report a case of neonate with respiratory distress and GI bleeding who was diagnosed to have congenital diaphragmatic eventration with Intrathoracic gastric volvulus.

A preterm neonate underwent emergent laparotomy for presumed necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). Intra-operatively, neonatal perforated appendicitis (NPA) was encountered. This may represent a form of NEC localized to the appendix. A high index of clinical suspicion and early laparotomy are recommended.

Most sacrococcygeal teratomas present between the 22nd and the 34th week of gestation. The diagnosis of sacrococcygeal teratoma on routine antenatal sonograms is associated with a greater than expected incidence of prenatal and perinatal complications. We report a premature baby with intrauterine spontaneous rupture of giant sacrococcygeal teratoma which was managed successfully.

Scrotal ectopia is a rare condition. Associated anomalies are common. We describe a neonate with ectopic scrotum with VACTERL association. This combination of anomalies is very rare.

We report a rare case of incomplete congenital duodenal obstruction (Type 1 duodenal atresia) in association with situs inversus totalis presenting with gastric perforation in a neonate. The infantogram was suggestive of perforation with air under diaphragm along with dextrocardia. Spleen rupture in an extremely premature newborn is very rare event. High index of suspicion is required to make timely diagnosis and thereafter appropriate management. Pentalogy of Cantrell (PC) is a congenital anomaly characterized by a defect in the lower sternum, anterior diaphragm, and anterior abdominal wall; ectopia cordis; and congenital heart disease. Adrenal hemorrhage is not uncommon in neonates but the development of an adrenal abscess is extremely rare.
