We present the case of a patient who developed a massive right pleural effusion after pelvic surgery, not thoracic surgery. Lymphatic leakage into the abdominal cavity after pelvic surgery can cause massive pleural effusion when complicated with porous diaphragm syndrome.

We present a case of bilateral giant bullous emphysema (GBE) with rapidly progressive dyspnea. The dyspnea was thought to be due to tension bullae caused by the check valve mechanism in COVID-19 bronchitis. Multiple nodules were also detected on both sides of the lung. Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome (BHD) typically does not manifest airway obstruction despite the presence of multiple lung cysts. However, the long-term effects of cigarette smoking on lung function among individuals with BHD are unknown. We report a case of a smoking individual diagnosed with BHD syndrome complicated by spontaneous pneumothorax and severe airway obstruction. Children and older adults are prone to unintentional foreign body aspiration. A 69-year-old man with fever and anorexia presented with obstructive pneumonia resulting from foreign body aspiration. Attempts to remove the foreign body using a bronchoscope failed due to its adhesion to the periphery of the bronchus. A 76-year-old man underwent an operation for lung squamous cell carcinoma in the right lower lobe, followed by initial adjuvant therapy with atezolizumab, an antibody against anti-programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1). On day 4 after atezolizumab treatment, the patient developed general malaise and fatigue. He was diagnosed with atezolizumab-induced sclerosing cholangitis. This report presents the case of a 42-year-old Japanese woman with recurrent hormone receptor-positive breast cancer who developed eosinophilic pneumonia (EP) during treatment with abemaciclib combined with endocrine therapy.
