Effective treatments are available for women with a confirmed diagnosis. The aim of this review is to determine whether a consistent diagnostic intervention exists, to support an accurate indication of prevalence...

The number of patients presenting to primary care requiring support with menopause symptoms is increasing and the number of available appointments in general practice is reducing. In attempt to improve access new ways of engaging with these patients may be beneficial. Group consultations could be a solution. Here I describe my experience of setting up group consultations in a GP practice.

REVIEW
Janice Blumer
Arthralgia is a common complaint around the time of menopause in many women. It is estimated that over 50% of women experience arthralgia or arthritis at the time of menopause. The complex of symptoms has been linked to the joint and tendon response to the decline in sex hormones as well as sarcopenia, or loss of muscle volume associated with aging. The diagnosis of "arthritis of menopause" has been identified since 1925, but treatments have been symptomatic at best.1,2 Joint synovium and cartilage interaction with estrogen is well documented...

Ovarian stromal hyperthecosis is an uncommon nonneoplastic cause of ovarian hyperandrogenism mainly in postmenopausal women. Here, we present a case of a postmenopausal woman who presented with features of virilization like alopecia and hirsutism. During its workup, two malignancies were diagnosed at a very early stage. Microscopic focus of endometrial adenocarcinoma in a polyp and similar focus of endocervical adenocarcinoma in the subsequent hysterectomy specimen were noted. Presence of synchronous malignancies in the uterus is very rare and it being detected in a patient who presented with a non-related symptom of hairfall makes it an interesting case scenario...
