This study aimed to investigate the effect of diabetes on radiation attenuation parameters of the femur and tibia of rats using Monte Carlo Simulations. First, control and diabetic rats were identified and tibias and femurs were removed. Then, the elemental ratios of the bones obtained were calculated using EDS (Energy Dissipative X-ray Spectroscopy). Therefore, radiation permeability properties of control and diabetic bones were simulated by using the content ratios in the bones in MCNP6 (Monte Carlo N-Particle) and PHITS (Particle and Heavy Ion Transport code System) 3...

At CERN-ISOLDE, high-purity radioactive ion beams of 219 Fr and 221 RaF were investigated with α-decay spectroscopy at the CRIS and ASET experiments in the course of three different experimental campaigns. The half-life of 215 At, α-decay daughter of 219 Fr, is measured to be 36.3(3)[9]μs, and that of 221 Ra was determined to be 26.2(1)[6]s, both of which are well in line with the trends in this region of the nuclear landscape but at odds with some of the reported literature.

We present an investigation of the interpad region (IP) in the Ultra-Fast Silicon Detector (UFSD) Type 10, utilizing a femtosecond laser and the transient current technique (TCT). We elucidate the isolation structure and measure the IP distance between pads, comparing it to the nominal value provided by the vendor. A comparison of sensors with identical layouts but different nominal IP distances (49 μm vs. 61 μm) and different processing parameters revealed their significant different charge collection properties in the IP...

The article reports the production yields of the medically relevant Ru radionuclides and other co-produced radionuclides from 6,7 Li-induced reactions on 93 Nb target within the 20-45 MeV energy range. The residues were measured employing the activation technique followed by the offline γ-spectroscopy. Statistical model calculations using EMPIRE3.2.2 code are employed to assess the optimized nuclear model parameters and production mechanisms of the residues. As an outcome, new data from 6 Li reaction suggests 9720 MBq/C of thick target yield (TTY) for the production of 95 Ru with minimal impurities...

The investigation of the influence of the instrumental parameters microwave power and modulation amplitude on the EPR signal show saturation effect at microwave power above 2 mW and over modulation at modulation amplitude above 0...

The KRISS-Rn4 exhibits enhanced energy resolution through channel-by-channel signal processing and data acquisition. Natural antimony targets were irradiated in a 60 MeV bremsstrahlung beam and gamma spectrometric measurements were performed. The goal was to establish the yield of 117m Sn, a radionuclide with great potential for application in medicine. Considering that 117m Sn is predominantly produced through a photonuclear reaction in which an charged particle is emitted (121 Sb(γ,p3n)), the yield of this tin isotope is much lower than the yields of several antimony isotopes produced in (γ,xn) reactions...

Furthermore, if the measurement uncertainty is considered in the decision process the associated probability, or risk, that a measurement result is above (or below) a reference value shall be taken into account. In this work it is shown that for gross alpha and gross beta measurements the evaluation method, GUMUF (GUM Uncertainty Framework) or MC (Monte Carlo), may also be important and influence the decisions taken when measurement results are very close to the reference value...

The method involves the use of a thin isotopic target, that completely overlaps the photon beam (a photonuclear converter), as well as an algorithm for processing the data on the yield of a reaction under study in such a target. The novel technique was validated on the reactions 100 Mo(γ,n)99 Mo and 58 Ni(γ,n)57 Ni in the range of photon end-point energy of 40...
