Congenital variants of the pancreas are being increasingly detected with the widespread use of modern imaging techniques. The underlying embryologic aberration predicts the final appearance of pancreatic development. It is essential to recognize these congenital variants, as many of these have been proven to be associated with pancreatic diseases like recurrent pancreatitis and chronic abdominal pain. Cross-sectional techniques like multidetector computed tomography and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography are the most used imaging techniques for the pancreas, where a radiologist comes across these variants...

Background  Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow is altered in many conditions like normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), aqueduct stenosis, or Chiari malformation. It is very important to know the normal CSF flow parameters for properly diagnosing these conditions. No data on CSF flow parameters of the Indian population are available. Hence, this study was undertaken to generate normative CSF flow parameters in the Indian population. Aim  Our aim was to estimate normal CSF flow parameters across the cerebral aqueduct in Indian subjects over 40 years of age...

Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) is known to benefit patients with decompensated liver disease by alleviating portal pressure. However, TIPS creation is technically difficult and challenging to perform in patients with chronic portal vein thrombosis (PVT) (4,5). Multiple endovascular techniques for portal vein recanalization with or without creating portosystemic shunt are available to decompress and alleviate portal hypertension in patients with PVT. In this case series, we represent TIPS extension to create an endovascular mesocaval shunt for the treatment of refractory upper gastrointestinal bleeding...

Background  In the follow-up computed tomography (CT) examinations of patients who had undergone gastrectomy for gastric malignancy in our center, we noticed by chance that there was an isolated increase in the diameter of the main portal vein (MPV) without other radiological findings of portal hypertension. Objectives  In this study, we aimed to evaluate whether the MPV diameter of patients who had gastric surgery for malignancy differed in the preoperative and postoperative periods and its change over time in patients who underwent postoperative follow-up examinations...

Carotid body tumors are rare benign tumors that arise in the carotid space of neck typically presenting as soft to firm, painless swelling in the neck. While specific imaging characteristics have been previously described for carotid body tumors, we report a new imaging sign in three cases of carotid body tumors on computed tomography angiography.

Aim  Osteoporosis is a common metabolic bone disease accounting for low back pain (LBP). It is diagnosed by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), a routine investigation for LBP, is also sensitive to detect fat fraction (FF) of the vertebral body that increases with increasing age. This study aimed to correlate vertebral marrow FF using MRI and bone mineral density (BMD). Material and Methods  Patients presenting with low backache and suspected osteoporosis were included...

Background  Differential diagnosis in radiology is a critical aspect of clinical decision-making. Radiologists in the early stages may find difficulties in listing the differential diagnosis from image patterns. In this context, the emergence of large language models (LLMs) has introduced new opportunities as these models have the capacity to access and contextualize extensive information from text-based input. Objective  The objective of this study was to explore the utility of four LLMs-ChatGPT3...

Extra-abdominal fibromatosis is an uncommon, benign locally aggressive fibrous soft-tissue tumor that usually occurs in the shoulders, chest wall, back, thigh, and head and neck affecting the young adult population. It is commonly located in the subcutaneous tissue and may infiltrate the adjacent skeletal muscles. We hereby report a rare case of a large extra-abdominal fibromatosis of the leg and foot in a 38-year-old woman. The patient presented with a large voluminous lesion clinically and on imaging, which was difficult to diagnose...

Background  Osteoarthritis (OA) is the commonest form of arthritis with pain and disability as hallmark symptoms. Despite various nonpharmacologic, pharmacologic, and surgical approaches, pain control may be hard to achieve. Over the last few years, few studies have been conducted on managing knee OA using novel endovascular genicular artery embolization (GAE) with varied outcomes. No such study has been reported in India yet to the best of our knowledge. Purpose  The main aim of this article was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of transcatheter GAE in relieving knee pain in patients with mild-to-moderate OA...

Aim: Burnout and stress-related health disorders are on the rise among physicians. The aim of this study is to report the results of a survey on factors affecting the work-life balance of interventional radiologists (IR). Material: The survey consisted of 30 questions focusing on work, family, and personal health. The questionnaire addressed knowledge, attitude, and practice. This online survey was sent to IRs across the globe and the responses were analyzed by three IRs (SH, SNK, SK). Results: On univariate analysis, the major risk factors for burnout were presence of weekend duties ( n  = 91, 98...

Introduction  Perianal fistula and its recurrence is a challenging entity for surgeons. It is a well-establi1shed fact that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings influence surgical procedures and reduce the rate of recurrence. In this study, we assessed the contrast-enhanced (CE) three dimensional T1 sequences [sampling perfection with application optimized contrast using different flip angle evolution (SPACE) and volumetric interpolated breath-hold examination (VIBE)] in a 3T MRI system to evaluate perianal fistulas and compared them with two-dimensional (2D) sequences...

Arthroplasty-related pseudotumors are nonneoplastic and noninfectious inflammatory masses that are typically associated with adverse reaction to metal debris. Pseudotumors most commonly occur in the setting of metal-on-metal joint replacements at the hip. However, the presentation of pseudotumor at the shoulder is exceedingly rare. In this article, we reported a case of arthroplasty-related pseudotumor of the scapula. Clinical history, radiologic signs, and tissue analysis are described. Knowledge of this rare diagnosis will support clinical decision making for teams of radiologists, pathologists, oncologists, and orthopaedic surgeons who provide care for patients presenting with suspicious shoulder masses...

Background  Distal colostogram and ileostogram are commonly performed radiological procedures in the pediatric population. It is sometimes difficult to identify the distal stoma while performing these procedures. Aim  The aim of this study was to describe a technique for the confident identification of distal stoma. Methods  Injection of a small quantity of air through the catheterized stoma and following it can help to identify the stoma, as proximal or distal, based on anatomy of the delineated bowel...

Objectives  Direct intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (DIPS) stent placement is an effective treatment for patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS); however, thrombotic occlusion of DIPS stent remains a cause of concern. The purpose of this study is to describe a novel technique of balloon-occluded-thrombolysis (BOT) for occluded DIPS stent, and compare it with the conventional catheter-directed-thrombolysis (CDT). Methods  In this retrospective study, the hospital database was searched for BCS patients who underwent DIPS revision for thrombotic stent occlusion between January 2015 and February 2021...
