The present study determined the milk value rather than serum in diagnosis of toxoplasmosis in goats using ELISA and Modified Agglutination Test (MAT). ELISA proved to be more specific and sensitive (92% & 85%), than MAT (90% & 80%) in diagnosis of Anti-T. gondii Antibodies (ATAb) in group of microscopically proved T gondii aborted goats respectively. There was a direct relationship between.the mean ELISA O.D. value and the level of Ab-titer in MAT positive sera. The overall prevalence of infection in 600 serum samples from grazing goats was 22% and 20% after examination using ELISA and IAT respectively...

In this study, both digestive and hermaphrodite glands in Biomphalaria alexandrina snails were examined by light microscope (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in a trial to clarify its immunological role as defense mechanism against the parasite infection. B. alexandrina snails used were exposed individually to Schistosoma mansoni miracidia; according to their responsq they were classified into infected snails (shed cercariae) and non-infected snails (failed to shed cercariae). Snails not exposed to S...

The present cross sectional study was carried out to analyze the histopathological changes in the urinary bladder affected by Schistosoma haematobium among 54 patients (aged between 20-60 years; 40 males, 14 females; 44 from rural, 10 from urban areas) attending Sohag University Hospital, Egypt from. October 2015 to March 2016. 10% formalin fixed biopsy specimens were examined from which sections of 5 jum were prepared and examined microscopically. Mid-stream urine samples were collected from the patients after a slight physical exercise immediately transported to the Parasitological Laboratory to be examined for S...

Chronic liver disease is a worldwide common pathology characterized by inflammatory and fibrotic processes that may lead to progressive evolution from chronic hepatitis to cirrhosis. Peripheral blood monocytes may play an important role in the pathogenesis and resolution of liver fibrosis. These cells may offer new approaches for better understanding the pathogenesisof liver fibrosis. This work defined the proportion of circulating classical monocyte subset with hematopoietic origin in peripheral blood to establish the possible potential role of this subset as non-invasive biomarker of liver fibrosis in patients with HCV related chronic liver disease...

Giardiasis is one of the most frequent entero-parasites worldwide; its prevalence is more common in developing countries. Giardia lamblia is considered one of the opportunistic parasites and aits clinical manifestations represent the expression of host resistance and parasite viri lence. As of chronic giardiasis cases were expected to worsen in immunosuppressed patients with development of various complications. This work assessed the histolopathological and the possible immunological effects of infection with G...

Human malaria is caused by five species of Plasmodia: P. falciparum, P. vivax, P. ovale, P. malariae and P. knowlesi. Most infections are due to either P. falciparum or P. vivax, but mixed infections with more than one malarial species also occur. The majority of malaria-related deaths are due to P. falciparum. Generally, the pregnant women are a high risk group, as malaria can be a life threatening infection for both mother and fetus. Risk of stillbirth, spontaneous abortion, and other adverse pregnancy outcomes is increased in the setting of malaria, and pregnant travelers should be advised to defer travel until after delivery whenever feasible...

Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular zoonotic parasite that infects a large spectrum of warm-blood animals, including humans. Congenital toxoplasmosis is a worldwide problem. Rodents are intermediate hosts and serve as food for felids, the definitive hosts. A serological survey for antibodies to T. gondii was ca-ried out among two species of commensal rodent species Rattus norvegicus and R. rattus, trapped from different localities within Abu-El- Nomros center, Giza Governorate. This study evaluated previous schistosome infection (PSI) related to metabolic syndrome (MS). A total of 547 participants aged >40 years from rural areas of Zagazig district were enrolled. Of them, 269 patients with. PSI and 305 normal served as controls. For all participants blood pressure, height, body weight and waist circumstance (WC) were measured...

The differentiation between acute and latent forms of Toxoplasma gondii (T gondii) infection is still considered as a complicated issue. This study elucidated the establishment of a method that can detect most, if not all, of the recent infections with T gondii through detecting both the immunological and genetic markers. The study included cases' group (G1): 30 pregnant women considered to be a high-risk group (with history of abnormal pregnancy outcomes), and the controls (G2) were 20 apparently healthy women cross matched in ages but with a history of normal pregnancy...

Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis (SBP) is a frequent and severe complication in patient with cirrhosis and ascites due to CLD with high mortality rate (20%-40%). SBP causes an inflammatory reaction resulting in an increased number of PMNs in ascitic fluid. It was reported that diagnosis of SBP is established when the ascitic fluid PMN count is greater than 250 cells/mm3 Lysis of the PMNs during transport to the laboratory, may occur which may lead to false negative results. This study evaluated the*usefulness of some recent parameters for diagnosis of SBP that can be used for future development of a rapid bedside test...

The sensitivity and hence degree of success of the molecular tool depends on many factors including efficiency of DNA extraction method, in addition to the degree of purity which necessitate removal of a great number of inhibitors from the stool samples. Therefore, Sucrose density gradient isolation method was assessed in this study to be applied prior to nucleic acid extraction and amplification of Giardia duodenalis in stool samples...

CD3 and CD79α antibodies had been used as markers for both T and. B lymphocytes respectively. Immunohistochemical techniques had several advantages as remarkable sensitivity and specificity. This study aims to evaluate the roles-of praziquantel (PZQ) and aminoguanidine (AG) treatment in H heterophyes infected dogs pathologically and immunohisto-chemically.
