Amiodarone is a widely used antiarrhythmic agent for supraventricular and ventricular tachyarrhythmias. It is known to cause pulmonary toxicity, which can manifest in a variety of presentations, ranging from asymptomatic to fatal. We present a case of chronic interstitial pneumonia with organizing pneumonia induced by amiodarone that was successfully treated with drug cessation and use of corticosteroids. The patient experienced complete resolution of symptoms and full recovery of lung function after the course of steroids...

BACKGROUND Many states, including Arkansas, require CPR training before high school graduation. METHODS We modified the American Heart Association's CPR in Schools curriculum to deliver CPR and AED training with maximal individual practice. RESULTS 520 students were trained over a two-day period at Little Rock Central High School. Three students were unable to effectively participate due to physical limitations. The model was later applied at the five other district public high schools. CONCLUSIONS Training large numbers of students in a time-compressed formal is feasible with a highly dedicated, practiced instructor team...

This descriptive review of clinical cases and management guidelines for sick days in children and adolescents with diabetes is provided as a resource for physicians who may take calls from parents of sick children with diabetes or manage these children in a clinic, emergency room or hospital setting...

Arkansas is home to one of the largest populations of Marshallese in the world. Marshallese communities suffer from a disproportionate incidence of chronic diseases, including obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and infectious diseases, such as Hansen's disease (leprosy), tuberculosis, and types of hepatitis. There are a number of structural, legal, economic, and social issues that must be addressed in order to reduce health disparities and increase access to health care for Marshallese living in Arkansas...

Tick-borne diseases are illnesses transmitted by ticks harboring wide variety of pathogens. Arkansas is reported as one of the states with a high incidence of tick-borne diseases. In Arkansas the four most frequently occurring tick-borne diseases are Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF, also known as Spotted Fever Rickettsiosis), Ehrlichiosis, Tularemia and Anaplasmosis. Lyme disease, on the other hand, is not acquired in Arkansas and is only acquired by traveling to states where Lyme disease is endemic. The majority of tick-borne diseases are diagnosed based on a history of tick bite or exposure and the individual's clinical presentation...
