PURPOSE: To assess the clinimetric properties of the Stroke Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (SSEQ) and estimate the minimal detectable change (MDC) and minimal clinically important difference (MCID) from the database of our randomized controlled trials (RCT) of individuals receiving stroke rehabilitation. METHODS: We retrieved the pre- and post-intervention scores of the SSEQ and Stroke Impact Scale (SIS) from 80 stroke survivors. The analysis of clinimetric properties was performed using: (1) confirmatory factor analysis and item response theory modeling (IRT) for construct validity; (2) standardized response mean and Glass's delta for responsiveness; (3) MDC based on the standard deviation (SD) or standard error of measurement (SEM) of the SSEQ change scores; (4) MCID determined by the external anchor-SIS; (5) conditional MDC (cMDC) derived from the IRT analysis...

PURPOSE: The objective of this synthesis research was to explore representations of autism and human-animal interactions (HAI) in the health sciences literature and the implications for autistic children and their families. METHODS: Guided by critical interpretive synthesis methods proposed by Dixon-Woods et al. (2006), we synthesized and examined how autism and HAI were described in the health sciences literature and explored assumptions and goals underlying HAI as an intervention...

PURPOSE: This scoping review aimed to identify behaviour change strategies influencing rehabilitation adherence in adults with tendinopathy, a common musculoskeletal condition requiring prolonged rehabilitation with poor adherence and variable outcomes. METHODS: Following the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology, seven databases were searched until April 2023. Records included reviews, intervention, and qualitative studies published in English. Behaviour change strategies were deductively coded and mapped to the capability, opportunity, and motivation model of behaviour (COM-B)...

PURPOSE: To investigate the benefit of spinal high-velocity low-amplitude thrust (HVLAT) in improving pain and disability in persons with painful shoulder as primary outcomes. Function, quality of life, persons (and clinicians) satisfaction, adverse events rate, and time for recovery were secondary outcomes. METHODS: A systematic review with meta-analysis was conducted and MEDLINE, CENTRAL, Embase, and PEDro until 20 September 2023 were investigated. Two thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine records were retrieved and nine studies were included...

PURPOSE: Environmental enrichment seems to enable people in the chronic phase of acquired brain injury (ABI) to experience new functional abilities and motor/coping strategies and consequently to become more adaptable which might prevent/reverse functional decline. This study describes the influence of a five-days Surf Week program on participants on physical function, self-efficacy, functional balance performance and self-perceived recovery. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A multiple-baseline single-case design was used...

Purpose: There are known disparities in chronic pain severity, treatment, and opioid-related risks amongst individuals from lower socioeconomic status, including Medicaid beneficiaries, but little is known about whether Medicaid beneficiaries benefit in a similar way from multidisciplinary chronic pain rehabilitation. This study investigated differences in clinical outcomes between Medicaid and non-Medicaid beneficiaries who completed a 3-week multidisciplinary chronic pain rehabilitation program. Methods: Participants ( N  = 131) completed a broad range of clinical measures pre- and post-treatment including pain severity, pain interference, depression, anxiety, objective physical functioning, and opioid misuse risk...

METHODOLOGY: Seven PSSE treatment experts checked the content validity of the Patient's Perception of Scoliosis-Specific Physiotherapy Questionnaire (Physio-IS). For each Physio-IS item, the content validity indexes must be ≥ 90%. Regarding structural validity and reliability 52 adolescents (ages 10-17) with AIS completed the questionnaire...

The aim of this study was to explore the impact of an internship program for people diagnosed with SMI on psychosocial variables using a pre-test and post-test design. METHOD: Four scales were administered to a sample of 127 study participants, all of whom were diagnosed with SMI. The results of standard and sheltered employment outcomes were obtained by comparing the number and type of contracts gained by participants up to one year after program completion...

Data regarding demographics, canal location of positive tests and comorbidities were collected from medical records. RESULTS: Thirty-nine percent (238) of people with falls risk tested positive for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo; 62 (26%) or 1 in 4 of those testing positive were not dizzy...
